Seems that anytime I tell people I love 'green' fashion and want to open an eco-chic boutique, people really do assume its clothes made from hemp for hippies. :-(

What I feel is it is very costly for a poor country like India to spend thousands of crores in US wanted nuclear deal. It would be better if the same is invested in safe and perennial resources tapping, like wind, solar and hydro energies.

I just want to make sure what "office paper" is...I was putting my old paper in my local recycling paper dumpster...On the front it says what can and can't go into the dumpster. On the can't list it said office paper. Is office paper the paper that printers and copiers use? I just wanted to make sure because I never heard office paper wasn't recyclable.

It's hot (35 degrees celcius, and it is still spring), I am renting my house and I want to cool it down, without turning on the electric fan, because of the global warming thing, and because I am poor and don't want to pay the power bill after 4 months of aircon.
What are some ways I can cool my house? I am sick of the heat!!!

Do you think that by the year 2030 we will be able to EAT ENERGY? Honestly, for those of you who practice magic, tk, or other abilities, do you think it would be possible for us to learn how to replace food with energy?

Gas flaring contributes to global warming, but then governments seem to be reluctant to properly enforce and stop outright waste of this energy resource. Setting "flares out" dates that are not adhered to is tantamount to shifting the goal post. Is it because, for now, it seems to be abundant?

This is an outrage and disgrace and I cannot understand if the population of humpback whales is recovering, why would there now be a "scientific whale hunt" to once again jeopardize the population!
It amazes me as to the brutality of these Japanese whalers, and how sad it is that people continue their cruelty to these beautiful creatures.
There is no need for the Japanese to hunt whales. Starvation or ancient native sustenance are not issues.
If the Japanese claim tradition, then they should whale from traditional vessels and row or sail their butts out into the ocean.
Whales are higher mammals that deserve the respect of humans as beings in their own right.

Sorry I do not usually rant on like this and I am not a greenpeace tree hugging soul, but it just makes my blood boil when they say it is for scientific reasons and the real reason is they want to carry on a tradition that was stopped nearly 40 years ago.
If you feel as strong as I do about it then I suggest you boycott all Japanese trade goods and make it known that that you are doing this and the reasons why.

I didn't recycle very much until this week... In one week I had completely filled, by myself, one blue recycling box. Without even thinking about it and with very little effort!

So why don't you? If your workplace doesn't offer recycling, why not demand it?

Plastic bags are estimated to take 500-1500 years to degrade. Why not recycle them? Instead of using plastic water bottles & tossing them, get a water purifier and use a reusable water bottle. Cost is less than $30 and you'll have significantly less garbage.

Why don't you recycle?

Old asphalt can be used to add to the mix of road asphalt and for other uses. How much is actually recycled, and what are the obstacles? Have you been successful in having your old shingles be recycled, instead of just having them hauled away to a landfill?

Everyone knows none of these is a viable, long-term solution but is it possible that a combination of Ethanol, Clean Coal, and existing nuclear energy could serve as a bridge between our current dependency on oil and our future of solar, wind and other types of renewable energy? Could these things not be used to REDUCE our dependency on foreign oil thus benefiting our foreign policy as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions?
