This is an outrage and disgrace and I cannot understand if the population of humpback whales is recovering, why would there now be a "scientific whale hunt" to once again jeopardize the population!
It amazes me as to the brutality of these Japanese whalers, and how sad it is that people continue their cruelty to these beautiful creatures.
There is no need for the Japanese to hunt whales. Starvation or ancient native sustenance are not issues.
If the Japanese claim tradition, then they should whale from traditional vessels and row or sail their butts out into the ocean.
Whales are higher mammals that deserve the respect of humans as beings in their own right.

Sorry I do not usually rant on like this and I am not a greenpeace tree hugging soul, but it just makes my blood boil when they say it is for scientific reasons and the real reason is they want to carry on a tradition that was stopped nearly 40 years ago.
If you feel as strong as I do about it then I suggest you boycott all Japanese trade goods and make it known that that you are doing this and the reasons why.

As a response to a so-called top contributor Dr Jello (Jesus what a name) I have protested this for many years, but this year it is a bit different as they are hunting one of the largest and protected species.

Why do you come here and make such a stupid comment when people are trying to make a difference for our children's future, small minded people like yourself are the problem with today's society. Grow up will you!!!

That's dumb! I don't get how people can kill an animal and be happy like" Look I killed a deer that was just trying to live his life and not harm anyone!" and then peple go and call them trophy's! When I was in 5th grade at my elementary school we went out for recess and there was a dead deer hanging upside down in a tree facing are school! I mean come on! It's common sense! I don't think kindergardeners want to see a dead deer! I really just always want to punch people in there ugly faces when they wear fur, too.

A$H!

The general population of this wishy washy country doesn't have the balls to unite and boycot anything! If they did, we wouldn't be plagued by all the import cars, an the economy would still be thriving! Stop an take a look around you and then name 10 things that you see that are actually made in this country. I don't think that you can do it!

So what? Iceland and Norway hunt whales as well. Why are you not ranting on them as well?

Are you a news cycle activist? Only care about things when they're in the headlines? Once something new make front page will you care anymore?

Somehow I think you'll forget about the big fish.
