with over six billion people, the dams that hold water, all the resevoir across the US. would this be a significant amount of water that is not in the ocean contributing to the warming of earth. i know water levels are rising due to ice melting but i do not have enough math background to calculate. just curious.

Witch doctors? Faith healers? People with magic pills that cure every disease? Former auto mechanics who've decided that, if they can fix cars, they can fix people?

Or do they go to regular MDs, who have been educated (brainwashed?) in "consensus" medical practice. And licensed by the "liberal" government bureaucrats.

When they have a problem with their heart, do they prefer to go to someone who is trained and "board certified" as a cardiologist? Who prescribes treatments that are the "consensus", backed by the peer reviewed literature?

Why then do they believe the unqualified or the oddballs on global warming?

Far too often we see people saying things like "CO2 can't cause warming because it lags behind temperature".

First of all, while atmospheric CO2 did not initiate warming in the past, it did amplify the warming. Otherwise the global temperature and CO2 plots would not match so closely:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Vostok_420ky_4curves_insolation.jpg

Secondly, of course CO2 can cause warming. It's a greenhouse gas! If not for greenhouse gases like CO2, our planet would be - to quote Dr. Evil - "frickin' freezing, Mr. Bigglesworth."

How can anyone form a conclusion about an issue as complex as global warming when they can't even understand the very basic science like the greenhouse effect?

"SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 15 — A federal appeals court here rejected the Bush administration’s year-old fuel-economy standards for light trucks and sport utility vehicles on Thursday, saying that they were not tough enough because regulators had failed to thoroughly assess the economic impact of tailpipe emissions that contribute to climate change.

{...}

The court, siding with 4 environmental groups and 13 states and cities, also asked the government to explain why it still treated light trucks — which include pickups, sport utility vehicles and minivans — more mildly than passenger cars.

{...}

The appeals court, in a decision that was unanimous on all the major points, also chided the Bush administration for exempting larger S.U.V.’s — those like the Ford Excursion and the Hummer H2 that weigh 8,500 pounds to 10,000 pounds — from any fuel-economy standards."

What do you think about this?

I found this chart and I am not good with statistics. So I would like some of you to tell me if this is good stats or bad stats on how he came up with this chart. I would greatly appreciate clarification about this chart and the stats used. Also if the chart is good stats (if there is such a thing) why is the CO2 levels continuing to rise while the temperatures are not rising the same rate and we are not the warmest considering CO2 levels are the highest they've ever been. Thanks

The local news networks were all predicting one of the worst hurricanes seasons in many years. Upward 15 to 20 major events.
Naturally, like everything else that goes wrong they indicated the reason being global warming. Don't get me wrong there is a warming in some areas but not all and it does not explain every catasthrophic event that happens as Al Gore would have us believe.
The question is-was this one of the more mild hurricane seasons? It sure seems to be the case.

The Vostok data (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Vostok_420ky_4curves_insolation.jpg ) shows that in 450,000 years CO2 never warmed the planet. In every case temperature rises first and then CO2 concentration follows. In addition, after every warming peak in the record, temperature falls precipitously while CO2 levels remain at their highest. CO2 neither causes warming nor impedes cooling.

Therefore,

1. The only proposed mitigation technique is doomed to failure based on a 450,000 year experiment called Earth.
2. AGW proponents, fixated on this doomed technique, are unwilling to accept the experimental evidence. This fixation stymies open discussion or research into other possibilities.
3. The unwillingness of AGW proponents to accept the unambiguous historical data will deplete necessary resources and unalterably compromised peoples’ ability to prepare for elevated temperatures.

Millions will die. Will AGW proponents responsible?

I propose as a qualified Social Ecologist that the only practical course of action to solving Global Warming and growing pollution problems is for YOU, and ALL of you to STOP being unnecessary consumers!

The governments push consumerism, western lifestyle relies on it. But it can't last. The cracks are showing. And it doesn't make people happy according to many studies.

Please agree or disagree fervently but factually.

I have just recently received a National Medal for my work toward preventing Global Warming. But I just can't do it alone.

For science research, and for my own benefit, I need to know what your thoughts are on these points:
-If You help
-what you do to help
-if you are a really committed helper in preventing global warming, and
-what you really think about the human life betraying our creation.

Thankyou very much for helping, you really don't know how much this means to me.

Thankyou.

Since human beings naturally produce CO2......

Interesting fact.... warming is occuring multiple planets in our solar system, including jupiter. This is due to increased activity from the sun. But people are buying this CO2 crap....

According to Global Warming alarmists, without serious reductions in Co2 emissions the planet is doomed. Obviously, light bulbs, planting trees and walking to work will NOT solve the problem. What will it really cost each American to reduce the US carbon footprint. Americans need to know the real cost to them in support of this junk science.

Before u ask me i walk to the local shop most of the time, usually throw on a sweater instead of turning the heating on, use low energy bulbs, recycle and try to save energy where possible.

WHY would the CO2 we emitt (30,000,000,000 tonnes per year) not have a greenhouse impact on the earth climate?

Without CO2, the Earth surface would be at an average temperature of -18°C (0°F). So how can we possibly add 20% CO2 into the atmosphere and the carbon cycle without causing a global temperature increase?

What offset (according to you) the effect of this additional CO2?
