Global Warming...its happened before and it will happen again.
Earth's Crisis? What crisis? The Earth has endured much in its lifetime and survived. And will continue to survive until the sun dies. You're talking about the Human Crisis. Remember, we just exist on Planet Earth, we don't own it. Evolution decides what and whom shall exist. The world's population will continue to strain the natural resources until it breaks. War, famine, disease and natural disasters help keep the balance. The Earth is overdue for the next ice age. The climate always has a temperature spike just before the ice age begins. We're in a warming period now. And soon there will be a cooling period. No one refutes the need to clean up the environment. What pisses people off are the liberal douches running around screaming "the sky is falling". And trying to drastically change our way of life with no concern about the damage they will cause us compared to the overall impact we have on the environment.
And as for "Diane B's" list, I also do those same things. I do them because of economics and common sense. I can't afford the ever increasing water/sewer costs. Increases in fuel and electric bills. But I also grew up in the '70s and remember all the garbage laying around. Rivers, lakes and streams that were so polluted that some actually ignited on fire. Don't believe me, look it up. I think today the environment is much cleaner than it was in the '70s. But I still see McDonald bags laying in the ditches and those damn plastic grocery bags flying around. Use your common sense and pick up after yourself.

If people really cared about the environment, or even their own health, there wouldn't even be any discussion of global warming. For decades now major cities, like the Phoenix area where I live, have been issuing high-pollution advisories warning people to stay inside as much as possible when the ozone and particulate levels get too high. You'd think that would be enough to convince people to do something, but they still insist on driving their huge gas-guzzlers, so scientists started warning of the dangers of global warming in the hope that it would get people's attention. I honestly don't care whether it can be proven that we're the cause of global warming or not. I say we need to take action just for the sake of having clean air to breathe. If you don't think that's a good enough reason to reduce emissions, you must have a death wish.

The problem with global warming is that there is no conclusive science that confirms the theory.
NOW. If you believe that the planet is warming and the ice caps are melting. Well, yes, but only during the past 100 years. Hardly a true measure in geological time to confirm a trend.
Secondly, all the stuff about CO2 - the so called man made cause of global warming in never qualified beyond short clip statements and endorsements - cited data is seldom fully disclosure.
The last time I looked, my plants looked happy.
I think they need this CO2 to make O2, am I correct on this!
I'm still not convenced either way whether excess CO2 is a CAUSE or EFFECT of Global Warming.
Third, I have never seen a GLOBAL WARMING THEORIST discuss the impact of the 'thermohailene conveyor' on the Global Warming Issue. It think there is merit in this.
Fourth, Global Warmers are generally alarmist. I believe we need to make concerted and continued efforts for a cleaner ecology, but to what extent. What if all nations were to spend trillions on Global Warming and a major volcanic erruption took place sending global temperatures lower? Is that likely to happen?
Fifth; why is it that NEWSWEEK magazine in 1973 came out with an issue and subsequent articles on GLOBAL COOLING - THE BIG FREEZE! Were they right or just overly sensitive to the science-of-the-day!
Sixth: I can hear it now! GWB did not sign the Kyoto Treaty, so now it's BUSH'S FAULT.
20 Years from now it will still be BUSH'S FAULT.
Seventh: Now for a little common sense.
I live in Houston. Yesterday it was 82 degrees. Today it is 43 degrees. Is there a trend? Put this to geological scale!

Statement from Meteorologist, John Coleman,
the founder of The Weather Channel.
"It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create an illusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the “research” to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.
Environmental extremists, notable politicians among them, then teamed up with movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists to create this wild “scientific” scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda. Now their ridiculous manipulated science has been accepted as fact and become a cornerstone issue for CNN, CBS, NBC, the Democratic Political Party, the Governor of California, school teachers and, in many cases, well informed but very gullible environmentally conscientious citizens. Only one reporter at ABC has been allowed to counter the Global Warming frenzy with one 15 minutes documentary segment.
I do not oppose environmentalism. I do not oppose the political positions of either party. However, Global Warming, i.e. Climate Change, is not about environmentalism or politics. It is not a religion. It is not something you “believe in.” It is science; the science of meteorology. This is my field of lifelong expertise. And I am telling you Global Warming is a nonevent, a manufactured crisis and a total scam. I say this knowing you probably won’t believe me, a mere TV weatherman, challenging a Nobel Prize, Academy Award and Emmy Award winning former Vice President of United States. So be it.
I have read dozens of scientific papers. I have talked with numerous scientists. I have studied. I have thought about it. I know I am correct. There is no run away climate change. The impact of humans on climate is not catastrophic. Our planet is not in peril. I am incensed by the incredible media glamour, the politically correct silliness and rude dismissal of counter arguments by the high priest of Global Warming.
As the temperature rises, polar ice cap melting, coastal flooding and super storm pattern all fail to occur as predicted everyone will come to realize we have been duped.
The sky is not falling. All natural cycles, drifts in climate are as much, if not more responsible for any climate changes underway. I strongly believe that the next 20 years are equally as likely to see a cooling trend as they are to see a warming trend."

No crisis. Just change. Relax, we don't control the climate, despite all the awards you receive. That is not to say that there are not a lot of very good reasons to address excessive use of fossil fuels and pollution problems associated with that and many other sources, or that we do not need to recognize that the climate is not and never has been static and act accordingly.
I just don't see a crisis, nor do I perceive global warming to be necessarily a negative ("bad") thing.

I do many things to help
l. Take shorter showers and turn off water when lathering
2. recycle everything imaginable
3. walk to the market and other places instead of using the car.
3. Carry my items in reusable green canvas bags instead of plastic ones.
4. Catch rain water for use in the garden
5. Use public transportation whenever possible
6. Monitor energy consumption so I am using it during lower usage hours instead of peak hours.
7. Not using dishwasher, I dry my dishes by hand; or dryer I hang my clothes out.
I am truly sadden that people think that global warming is a bunch of hype. We are losing animals and will continue to lose plants and animals due to increased temperatures, droughts, etc.
There are more people on this planet now than at any other time in history. And it is continuing to grow daily. That is another reason for the distruction overcrowding. I wish we could convince everyone to do their part to help save this beautiful planet.

wow, you're breaking new grounds there. I dont think of I honestly have ever heard a single correlation between oil agencies and worldwide warming ever.....different than with the aid of each and every conspiracy theorist in this web site. curiously only the extremely paranoid are properly recommended. think of roughly it. It doesnt count what technological understanding properly-knownshows, there'll continually be an ever increasing call for for oil. we don't have sufficient information approximately worldwide warming to declare that "hundreds" of persons a three hundred and sixty 5 days are loss of life from it. bypass forward and purchase a hybrid, the fewer human beings use oil, the dearer it gets. And only because of the fact they "observed it" 28 years in the past doesnt mean that it wasnt happening in the previous then. we are only taking a small volume of time and extrapalating records, that's a significant "oops" in technological understanding. additionally, this entire worldwide warming flow additionally has earnings innovations. green builders, import vehicles, image voltaic panel generating agencies, power useful equipment manufacturers, etc. it quite is a lot extra complicated than the "massive undesirable oil agencies".

I believe that there is alot of hype over the whole thing and it's all just a natural occurance. there was global warming when the dinosaurs were around and they didnt have cars or tv. I live on a farm and were going through the longest drought in 100 years maybe you should be researching ways to cost effectivly convert salt water to fresh water.

And just how much of the Earths resources did it take to give you a medal? Since I care about the environment, I would ban all medals outside of the military, as they don't mean anything.

I'm trying to live on "minimum exhaust" if this is possible to claim at all...I've bought a small Korean car, I use energy saving bulbs, I've even had windows changed for better insulation and reduction of warmth loses...I usually bike or walk to my office, I can't say I recycle much, that's an issue hardly taken seriously by our societies !
