First, Global Warming is NOT a serious problem. Alramist want to scare people into believing it is a serious problem. Case in point, these same alarmists claimed that the US would experience more Hurricane Katrina's and these hurricanes would be more intense. Over the last 2 years, the US has experienced ZERO hurricanes. Gore and his followers claim that we have less then 10 years, yet he and the others have done virtually nothing to offset their "carbon footprint". They have family, children, grandchildren. If the end of the Earth was "just around the corner" you would see a serious change in their lifestyles but you don't. Enjoy the natural warmth the Earth is experiencing while you have the opportunity. The cycle will change and the Earth will move again into a cooling cycle and people will wish they were experiencing the warmer times.

Use comon sense. Think about what is said about Global Warming.

(1) Glaciers are Receding: Glacers have been receding for over 10,000 years. The Northern part of America was at one time under ice. The great lakes were formed from glaciers. This is a natural consequence when the Earth is in a warming CYCLE. Believe me, the will increase again when the Earth begins cooling and then people will be concerned about the lose Wisconsin, Michigan and other northern states as the ice grows.

(2) Greenland is Warming: Why do you think the Nords named Greenland "Green"land - because it was covered with ice or because it was GREEN? During the first part 1000 AD, the planet was warmer then it is now - yes, without SUV's and oil burning manufacturing plants.

(3) Climate Models: These climate models are not able to plot the Earth's past climate. Why would they be able to predict the Earth's future climate. Hurricane climate models are a waste of our tax payer dollars. Every year they are wrong. About every two months during hurricane season the prediction is updated because the models are so inaccurate.

(4) Rising Water Levels: The IPCC report that came out in Feb/Mar of this year stated that the oceans may have risen over the last 100 years about 10 inches. During this time we had an increase in CO2 of 36%. The oceans will not rise 20 feet and swallow up coastal lands.

(5) Polar Ice Cap: Today the news stated that NASA has concluded that the ice changes experienced in the artic in the 90's was natural.

(6) Most Scientists Agree: 56% of climatologists do NOT believe humans are responsible for global warming. The majority of the remaining 44% state that they cannot say either way. A very smaller percentage support man-induced global warming and if you look at their source of income, you would see that they make their living on global warming research. While about 2000 scientists submitted RAW data to the IPCC report, an extremely small number of people determined that humans are responsible for global warming.

I could go on and on. When I was a kid in 6th grade, I was told in school by my teacher that we were moving into a new ice age. Amazingly, these same scientists wanted to spread black heat absobing materials over the artic to melt the ice and save the planet. Never happened. Now these same scientists want to pump sulfur based chemicals into the atmosphere to drop the global temperature (they based this on temperture drops due to volcano eruptions). So they want to create megatons of acid rain to fall on our planet. Sounds real eviromentally sound to me - give me a break.

Look don't waste your time and money on Global warming. If you really want to do something good for the planet and people, support funds that work to provide clean water and electricity to poor socities. Volunteer to clean up a stream in your area. Volunteer to serve Thanksgiving dinner to the homeless. Buy some clothes and food and give it to someone homeless in your area but don't waste your money making Gobal Warming alarmist rich and don't lose any sleep at night worrying about the future of the planet.

Yes it is a serious problem but it should be kept in perpsective. It's not like the Hollywood movies and it's often not as bad as the media make it out to be (they like dramatic headlines even if it means bending the truth).

The evidence for global warming is all around and there is no doubt that things are getting worse and will continue to get worse for some time yet (the dynamics of global warming are such that it's impossible to get better before it gets worse).

Unfortunately political leaders are very good at doing little about global warming. Scientists were warming them of the consequences as early as the 1950's but it wasn't until 1988 that any real action was taken and even then it was just a meeting. Since then there's been lots more meetings but not a lot of action.

If they'd have acted in the 50's we wouldn't be in the mess we're in now. They've not learned from past experiences and are still delaying taking action and just making the problem worse for future generations.

One big problem - just what should the leaders be doing? Whatever they do (or don't do) it will cause problems and there will be a backlash, they're not in a very good position either way.

I know that some leaders are hoping that science will come up with a miracle cure and they can absolve themselves of all responsibility. This isn't realistic, there are no miracle cures. There are some potential solutions that are being examined but these are quite some way off being implemented.

So far the movers have been big buisnesses, especially the Japanese and Europeans who have managed to reduce emissions, advance technology, grow their economies and fulfill global demands for greener products and services.

I guess the bottom line is that many people really don't want to take action, particularly not if it costs or inconveneiences them.

That is what I really think about it. Heck, Why not let the world do what it does? It is going to anyway!!!! Besides, what does it matter to the beings that will dig our bones and wonder where all that radiation come from. We are on a snowsled to hell...it seems.

It is a real blessing though not really enough to get excited about. I sure hope it lasts. It allows greater crop yields by increasing the growing season, making the nights warmer and increasing the efficiency of photosynthesis. It is the chicken-little attitude and the self-loathing nature of most environmentalists that makes them not see something as obvious as the noses on their faces.

There's a lot of action on the state and local levels.

As Dana points out, real Federal action will be delayed until Jan. 20, 2009.

Shane - Increases in solar radiation caused the ice ages to end. How do we know that's not what's happening now? Simple, we measure the Sun.

They just said the other day on the news, that global warming is a hoax. It is not at all in any way true. It's very evident that it's not true: does it seem to be getting any warmer outside to you?

What caused the glaciers to melt thousands of years ago. Global warming is such a fraud it is not even funny. A study showed we all have 6 years until global warming kills us all. I was really starting to like life too darn.

You're right, but we'll start taking action to address global warming once we have a Democratic president in 2009. We just have to wait out these horrible Bush years, because he's made it crystal clear that he's not going to do anything about the problem besides pay it lip service.
