Global Warming

I've just flicked through some of the most recently asked questions in this section, they're littered with errors, distortions, misrepresentations, half truths and in some cases - outright lies.

We all make mistakes and have opinions - that's fine. However, each of the following statements were given as fact, no attempts were made to qualify them, none were substantiated.

I appreciate some of the statements could have made due to errors and misunderstandings, that's to be expected given the amount of inaccurate information that's been produced, but in many cases I believe they were made as deliberate attempts to deceive.

Question global warming by all means but do so openly, honestly and responsibly (as some on this forum do). Resorting to underhand tactics demonstrates an inability to rely on factual evidence and shows contempt and disdain for other users.

Why do some skeptics feel it necessary to adopt this apparoch and where is the erroneous data originating from?

WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT

The Danish National Space Center states "Changes in the Sun contribute to climate change. Solar activity has been exceptionally high in the 20th century compared to the last 400 years and possibly compared to the past 8,000 years. When solar activity is high, the flux of galactic cosmic rays is reduced due to increased magnetic shielding by the Sun. The cosmic rays may influence Earths climate"

Here is evidence that says that the suns activity is the highest it's been in the last 8000 years. How could that NOT have any effect on the earths climate?

Dana says:

Volcanoes emit 1% the carbon dioxide that humans emit annually.

Seeing as all the c02 on this earth comes from volcanoes and decaying matter, before mankind began his industrial revolution:

and whether you believe in creation or evolution

do you still think global warming is caused by the sun or co2

Fr all the climate changes over thousnads of years, why is this one being blamed on co2?

why isa co2 since the discovery of chemistry being labelled as a pollutant?

do plants find it polluting?

what kind of plants were availabe in dino times, were they bigger?

and did they require more co2 or less to function?

and are ice sheets on mars and saturn melting because of the sun or because of co2, especially on mars which does not even have an atmosphere

thankyou

What has caused all the other climate changes for over thousands of years?

For the first time in the history of the earth, the ability to change the worlds climate, (which has been changing all by itself for thousands of years) has now been accredited to man

where do we get the idea that climates are static and they don't change

why over 5000 years of recorded human history is co2 now considered a pollutant?

Do plants consider it to be polluting

i would like to know what affects a plant seeing as they are mostly responsible for all the oxygen on this earth

do plants find extra co2 polluting ?

would plants grow bigger in the presence of extra co2

do you see plants bigger than normal, do you?
or more fruit being yielded?

evidence with your eyes vs the "it's all our fault guilt trip" off CNN

but i guess we all prefer the sugar coated answers off the tv

Answers to the above please

Sorry about the language

who hear believes in climate change?

Who here beleives in climate change caused by co2?

Who hear beleives after thousands of years and thousands of climate changes, that this one is being caused by man made co2?

Mount st helens exploded with enough power equal to 500 hiroshimas, it p[roduced more co2 than man ever has in 150 years,
and even then scientists were worried about a big freeze

but now they say, yup it's c02, man made c02

Dr kei mori grew a cherry tomato plant using double the concentration of co2.
It grew to over 15ft, produced over 15,000 tomatoes, and grew cherry tomatoes the size of golf balls

if co2 is so much more abundant now, how come no plants appear to be benefitting from it whatsoever?

surely they would be one of the first things to change, with more yield as they have more food for photosynthesis?

Rewind the clock about 1500 years. What was the world doing then? Waters where rising and lands where being flooded. Causing mass migrations of people in to higher grounds. Or in Englands case across the Chanel. The people where the Algles, creating what we know today as Alglo-Saxon England.
This is documented in history, we have archaelogical evadence showing us this. Was the flooding due to Global Warming? There where fewer people in the world, yet the world was going through the same process of warming and extreem weather as it is right now.
I want to know if modern scientist take history into account or if they even bother with it.

South America is experiencing a record cold not felt in 100 years.

Temperatures plunged to -22C in parts of Argentina, while snow fell on Buenos Aires.

In Chile, temperatures dropped to -18C.

In Bolivia, heavy snowfall blocked the nation's main motorway and forced the closure of several airports.

Bitterly cold weather in May caused some 20 deaths and forced the Argentine authorities to ration supplies.

A South American cold snap is causing Chileans to pay up to four times more for heat and electricity

Clearly this cold is not consistent with the consensus. This is supposed to be GLOBAL warming, not 'backyard' warming.

This shows that the Earth has been cooling over the last few years, and co2 is not causing warming.

Dozens of ski resorts across the Alps have begun running their lifts after unprecedented levels of snow this month.
Some parts have had the most snow in November since 1956.

Last winter was a bad season for the multi-million pound ski industry and there were real fears that some resorts might go out of business due to a lack of snow.

But the ski industry is now breathing a collective sigh of relief as bookings are picking up for the all-important Christmas period.

Hi! I'm really wondering what you american people think about this topic. In Europe (I'm European) everybody takes it seriously. I am a biology&chemistry major, so of course I know it's true. But I heard there are people, especially in the United States who still don't believe it's true.
So, what do you think of this?

There is no scientific proof that so-called 'greenhouse gasses' cause global warming, yet frenzied efforts - all doomed to fail - are being made to reduce their production. Not only is this lining the pockets of the few to the detriment of the many, but it's also blinding those who should know better to the possibility that the yet undiscovered cause may actually be amenable to corrective human intervention. Surely it would be sensible to seek possible alternative causes than to subscribe to the purely speculative opinion of largely self-appointed 'experts' or the 'majority view'. Remember, the vast majority were once convinced that the earth was flat - and some still think it is! In other words, should we not seek for possible alternative causes of global warming - then look for a solution whilst also recognising that there may not actually be one!

The round trip is a net loss isn't it? We use electricity to convert H2O into H and O.

Then in a hydrogen fuel cell car, we RE-convert the H and O back into H2O again.

So it is a round trip.

But since every mechanical device LOSES energy through friction and heat and waste, the round trip from H2O to H & O and back to H2O LOSES energy.

Isn't this right? So how will a hydrogen economy run the country or replace oil-burning cars?

They say that when the polar ice caps melt, the sea level will rise and flood parts of the lands. However, ice already takes up all the room it needs when it floats in water so if it melts, how is it going to affect the lands if it already takes up the room it needs?

For example, when you put ice cubes in a glass of water, the level of the water rises. When the ice melts in the water, the water level stays the same.

My name is Simon Oleekatalik. I am 72 years old and I live in a town called Taloyoak, in the Eastern Kitikmeot region on the Boothia Peninsula in Nunavut. Nunavut is the land of the Inuit people in north eastern Canada, Many of us agreed that the weather conditions have changed from a long time ago. In the winter there are more clear sky days more often now. When days get longer it seems to always be cloudier. In the old days in the wintertime, in short daylight, there was more snow accumulation on the ground. Now it is not like that anymore.
Sudden wind and weather changes, and the old ice is melting
I know about the wind too in the summer time. The wind has changed from a long time ago. The summer season is too windy now. It is different now. In the old days it used to be calm in the summer right up until the fall. Right now in the summertime I can see the difference, it is always windy now. Sometimes it will be calm but most of the time it is windy.
so is global warming fake?
