Dana says:
Volcanoes emit 1% the carbon dioxide that humans emit annually.
Seeing as all the c02 on this earth comes from volcanoes and decaying matter, before mankind began his industrial revolution:
and whether you believe in creation or evolution
do you still think global warming is caused by the sun or co2
Fr all the climate changes over thousnads of years, why is this one being blamed on co2?
why isa co2 since the discovery of chemistry being labelled as a pollutant?
do plants find it polluting?
what kind of plants were availabe in dino times, were they bigger?
and did they require more co2 or less to function?
and are ice sheets on mars and saturn melting because of the sun or because of co2, especially on mars which does not even have an atmosphere
thankyou

That's how global warming works. You see data to show that the sun is causing warming, and Dana and the believers point to a 25 year old report to say the sun isn't causing warming. That's all the proof they need, as they are very selective.
It's no different than when a couple of skeptics first determined that the Earth was not at the center of the solar system. The consensus of scientist at that time argued that it was. They came up with elaborate schemes, graphs, and charts to show that they were right, and they knew they were right, because other scientist who believed that the Earth was at the center of the solar system agreed with them, their work was peer reviewed.
However they didn't have math on their side. They argued that Sun centered solar system scientist were funded by big science, so their opinions couldn't count. Others were dismissed as crackpots, or not having training like they did, so their opinion couldn't count.
In time however they were proved to be wrong. What they believed couldn't hold up to the scrutiny of the facts. The Sun was in fact the center of the solar system.
Maybe someday the light of knowledge will shine on the believers as well.

Why is this one blamed on CO2? Because that's what the data says. There are several proofs, I like this one. In all previous warmings, CO2 lagged temperature by hundreds of years. That was because warming started naturally, and then CO2 was released by warming ocean waters. This time THERE IS NO LAG. That has NEVER happened before. It's because this warming is mostly caused by CO2.
CO2 in excess is bad. "Pollutant" is a legal term, not a technical one. The US Supreme Court has said that CO2 meets the legal definition of a pollutant. Since this is a legal issue they win.
An analogy is copper. We need it to live, but it's long been considered a pollutant, too.
Most of the planets are not warming, so it's not the Sun. NASA says the warming on Mars is due to giant dust storms, unique to Mars.

The Sun cannot possibly be causing this, since solar radiation (measured often) is actually decreasing:

My statement was correct (though I may have overestimated, as Trevor points out).
Volcanoes emit [less than] 1% the carbon dioxide that humans emit annually.
I did not say "in the history of the world, volcanoes have emitted 1% the carbon dioxide that humans have emitted."
Global warming is primarily caused by human greenhouse gas emissions (the largest of which is CO2). This warming is being blamed on CO2 for a very simple reason - the scientific evidence shows that this is the case. As for Mars:
Like Earth, Mars has seasons that cause its polar caps to wax and wane. "It's late spring at the south pole of Mars," says planetary scientist Dave Smith of the Goddard Space Flight Center. "The polar cap is receding because the springtime sun is shining on it."
"Remember, though," adds Smith, "there are two polar caps on Mars--north and south. While the south polar cap is vaporizing the north polar cap is growing. It's a balancing act.
http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2003/07aug_southpole.htm
On average, Mars is warming for entirely different reasons than the Earth - namely dust storms darkening its surface:

punker - funny thing, you always disagree with me, I always support my claims with scientific evidence, you never support yours.
Gee, I wonder which of us is right.
Of course, you'll probably get picked as best answer because you're telling johnny what he wants to hear. For most global warming deniers that's more important than actually being correct.
Some plants can eat arsenic. So I guess you wouldn't consider arsenic a pollutant either?

I don't like to point fingers, but I have disagreed with basically everything that Dana has said too. Each to his own.
I am not sure about the exact percentage of volcanic CO2 emissions, but I do know that human emissions of CO2 are very very small: 3% of the gas in the atmosphere is CO2, and a tiny 0.054% of that is anthropogenic.
And I completely agree with you about the pollution matter. CO2 is a NATURAL gas, NOT a pollutant. It is plant food, for crying out loud!
I believe, from the extensive research of other scientist's data (I'm not one myself), that the sun is the most likely cause of the slight warming trend, and CO2 is one of the least likely causes.

Before you accuse people of lying the very least you could do is to understand what it is you're talking about.
The only statement of Dana's that you mention is the one relating to volcanic emissions of CO2. If anything, Dana is being generous here, the true figure is closer to 0.6%.
