then doesnt it just make sense anyways to use hydrogen/solar/wind power because it is abundant, instead of using oil which is not abundant?

and before you say oil is abundant, then why is the price constantly going up?

even if global warming is not real, it just makes sense to follow sustainability and use a resource that is known to have no negetive effects and wont run out ever.

The vast majority of scientists and world leaders say that it is real, and mostly caused by us. So do the majority of corporate leaders not in the fossil fuel industry.

They're not stupid.

They're not ignorant. They've surely heard the "skeptics" arguments, and they're not buying them.

They have unlimited access to the best scientists in the world. They don't get their science from Al Gore. Or David Suzuki or Leonardo DiCaprio.

So what other explanation is there? Many of these people don't like each other, and agree on little else. Most of them don't make any money from supporting this theory. The scientist who could actually disprove this theory would be set for life.

So what other explanation is there, other than an absurd giant conspiracy?

Look how much is spent and how much pollution is associated with sports. From new construction for the Olympics, to transportation for the players and fans, billions of man miles are traveled each year to and from sporting events.

Not only that, but then theirs the broadcasters and the electrical usage of the television and radio stations.

All totaled there must be a measurable amount of co2 put into our atmosphere each day because of sports.

Wouldn't it be better if we just made car racing, soccer, football and all other sports illegal worldwide?

Are you going to boycott watching the Olympics to help save the planet?

With all the focus on cars as contributing to green house gases and climate change, what about jet fuel?
How much more co2 emissions come from them flying all over the country and the world? Are they not higher up in the atmosphere? How many car dose it take to burn one tank of passenger jet fuel?

What are the silliest things that you've seen AWG deniers come up with?
Some examples that I've seen-
-Global warming isn't happening because Rush said...
-Global warming isn't happening because I don't think it is.
-Global warming isn't happening because it's cold outside today
-Global warming isn't happening because Al Gore said...
-Global warming isn't happening because it's simply not (no kidding, somebody said that)
-Global warming isn't happening because the guy who started the Weather Channel said so.
-Global warming isn't happening because it's a socialist plot
-Global warming isn't happening because Liberals just want my SUV

You know, the storm that's coming from the North? Granted it is December and all, but it's also a little out of season for a storm this early. I just thought perhaps it was caused by the icebergs in the Arctic circle melting or something. And yes, there is a hint of sarcasm in my voice (if I were actually speaking).

2007-12-03 04:32:05 · 18 answers · asked by Jim C 5

If so, do you have any evidence to support it?

Saying "the climate changed naturally in the past before there were humans and SUVs" is not proof that the current warming is also natural.

I would like a person who thinks the current global warming is part of a natural cycle to scientifically analyze the Earth's natural cycles and provide any evidence whatsoever that this is true. Tell us how frequently the natural cycle changes, what part of the cycle we're in, and how fast the temperature should be changing based on this or these natural cycle(s).

In other words, if there's a cycle which has a period of 1,000 years, then show me the cycle and what effect it should be having on our current global temperature.

Or if you believe the current warming is not part of a natural cycle, feel free to support that conclusion as well.

Either way, provide evidence to support your answer. The answer with the best scientific evidence wins 'best answer'.

so where would you hit a shark to cause it some , if any , distress ? assuming of course this IS a shark at sea and not some goof stealing your 'surf' space, in which case you strike him in the testicles. but we're dealing with sharks, and sharks don't give a monkeys fart about you, your surfboard, your pathetic trend whore hair style- or just anything about to you in general. This makes Sharks pretty cool I would imagine, they hate everybody equaly. But never shares your severed Leg with another shark, equally.

Its simple, the sea belongs to mr.shark, and hes the boss of the deepest bluest oceans. Can a fuly grown man, of above average strength strike a series of blows at a shark to render it semi unconcious ? or is this a lost cause ? if you were the size of a wwe wrestler, could you wrestle it into submission ?

No, its all one question - im illustrating the 'various' things you must answer to answer the entire question.

Okay. Climat change or just random winters?

for years, Canadian winters have been known to vary greatly. Sometimes, minus 20 only with around 30 cm of snow for the whole winter. Other years, minus 40 and occasionally - 50 in wind chill with HUGE snowstorms of 40 to 50 cm.
In the past 3 winters, last year, for instance, most of Canada had its first green Christmas. Everyone saw Santa pulling up in a huge green hummer. This year, meteorologists say that its going to be a normal canadian winter. (aka 40 cm of snow per storm, cold, lots of wind, not to mention occaisional light snow)

so really, is climat change really taking effect in canada yet?

This is nothing but crap and Al Gore the liar will be in on it. So far the topics are this: World Sea Levels Rising - A dam LIE, world sea levels have been constant for over 100 years. Polar and Antartic Ice Caps shrinking, Another dam LIE recent satelite imagery has indicated a thicker layer of ice covering Antartica that is the deepest layer of ice that has been noted since imagery was started. Rising world temperatures - Another dam LIE, the National Weather Service historical data indicates that the 1930's were the hottest years in U.S. history. I'm sure that Al Gore will show up with his propane torch and a few topics that are full of half truths and LIES.

I love skiing and have always dreamed of owning my own pair. I recently bought new high quality skis complete with boots, poles and bindings. Although it was all half off it still came out to $960. I feel guilty getting them since I'm a recent graduate and I go skiing only 2-4 times a year. Additionally all this global warming ruckus is getting me quite nervous at the prospect of there being a reduced snow season in the coming years.

Ice floats, so, unless the sea level was many feet higher, the ice would have had to have been lifted into place some other way. Scientists have said that the amount of water in Greenland, if melted, would raise the sea level several inches to several feet. This is a lot of ice. Other melting of ice would not contribute to sea level rising since the ice is already in the water and displaces the equivalent amount of water already.
