I'll be the first to answer, and my answer is a big fat NO! When I see millions of people driving massive V8s, V12s etc... and thousands luckier folks flying on private jets some as big as 747! Why should I downgrade my midsize car and economy class airline ticket?!! Don’t you agree with me?

Absolutely not! When the ice age ended about 10,000 years ago that didn't happen because eskimos were bussing around on snowmobiles emitting CO2.

1000 years ago when it was warmer than it is now. Vikings were not plowing up the north sea with Jet-ski's. So if the earth is warming, that's not for sure, since the global mean temperature has not increased at all in the last 4 years. Its not due human activity this time either.

You seem to recognize that there is a problem and that something should be done. So what are you to do, damage the environment because of the actions of some other selfish jerk or set the example with a clear conscience? There is nothing wrong with a truck with a V8 as long as you have a valid reason for operating such a vehicle. You purchase the vehicle that meets your needs, but don't exceed those needs just because of some testosterone driven fantasy. As another person answered, may as well do it before you are forced to do so. In reality what is wrong with taking a train or bus an leaving the car in the driveway. It'll save wear and tare on that massive V8 and solve parking problems. Don't worry about the other guy, worry about what you are doing to the planet and set the example.

Well, if that's the way you feel, then fine. Are you also considering that it's very likely that gas will be A LOT more expensive in the coming years?

I'm definately going to get the most fuel efficient car I can find the next time I buy. I'd really like one of those plug in hybrids, but we'll see if they're out in the next 2-3 years when I'll probably be buying again.

No, I will not downgrade my vehicle(s) because of Global warming. We don't really know if Global warming is harmful. It is all hypethetical. For as many things supposedly harmed by warming, you could argue just as many positives from the change. Who's to say one is more valid than another. All "Global Warming" has done is put more dollars in the pockets of scientist, researchers and Universities. The fact it is getting warmer is really not an issue with me. I believe it is, however, what does it mean? Is it bad or good. History shows are climate was warmer than it is now, who's to say it is not normal? So I will keep driving my 500" 1970 Dodge Challenger and tooting around in my 10mpg Navigator. I live in America and want the right to drive whatever I please. I am all for alternate fuels, increasing fuel (cafe) standards etc etc. But I want choice. As soon as you eliminate that, we might as well scrap all vehicles in lieu of public transportation. Working from home, saves me fuel and my spouse works 5miles from home. So those out there, who want to judge me while I drive my gas guzzler should stop judging a book by it's cover.

I drive a nice mid-sized car and have no plans of downsizing.

In fact, in today's political climate, I'm considering upgrading to a dock truck or an old hearse... Maybe if I put a "hybrid" sticker on it I'll be accepted.
