Pros: it's the first step in getting many nations to agree to decrease their greenhouse gas emissions.
Cons: It set very conservative goals (only ~5% decrease by 2012).
It didn't require developing countries like China to reduce emissions.
The lack of requirements for developing nations gave the USA and Australia an excuse not to ratify the accord.
Overall results are mixed. Some nations are meeting the goals and others are failing. The most important nations (USA and China) are not even attempting to meet the goals for reasons listed above.
Overall Kyoto was a decent first step, but the next international agreement needs to have much more aggressive emissions reductions goals, and the USA needs to ratify it.

Pros - most of the nations got together and agreed to fight global warming
Cons - not everyone signed on, many of those that did are not living up to their agreement (some did, Jello is wrong), not ambitious enough.
Hopefully, the next attempt at this will fix the problems.

Con:
China, which is the country that recently passed the United States to become the number one emitter of greenhouse gasses in the world, is under NO OBLIGATION to reduce its emissions under the protocol.

It's just a feel good program that causes more harm than it helps. No country who sign the accord has ever reached their original targets, and none are on track for reaching their modified targets. However taxes have gone up.
