I love skiing and have always dreamed of owning my own pair. I recently bought new high quality skis complete with boots, poles and bindings. Although it was all half off it still came out to $960. I feel guilty getting them since I'm a recent graduate and I go skiing only 2-4 times a year. Additionally all this global warming ruckus is getting me quite nervous at the prospect of there being a reduced snow season in the coming years.

Depends on where you live.

Skiing in cold places like Canada or Colorado is only in a little bit of trouble. Enough to cause resort owners to worry about making money (slightly shorter seasons mean a lot to them), not enough to cause you to lose out.

Marginal ski areas in places like Virginia are in deep trouble.

There will be plenty of snow in your future, just look at Europe. Last year all the headlines were buzzing about how global warming would bankrupt the European ski industry, this year numerous ski resorts in Europe opened earlier than ever before. To alter your life based any of these ridiculous predictions by climatologists would be foolish.

wow, ok, first, there is a lot of snow on the slopes ideal now! I went snowboarding on November 6th in CO and it replaced into proper! 2d, skis are like a motor vehicle, they seem to be a bad investment and that they immediately loose value as quickly as you purchase them and each 365 days, they alter in lots of techniques. there is not any reason to ever purchase skis, I ski a ton and that i've got purely owned skis at one time for like some months, yet they got here out with greater constructive skis so i began out renting. international warming should not be your excuse for returning them regardless of the undeniable fact that.

Depends on where you live. Some ski resorts have given up and closed for good. Others have resigned themselves to a shorter season or are paying a fortune for snow-making. There will still be plenty of places to ski for some time to come, but the season may be shorter and you may have to travel farther to get there.

It's already snowing in Vermont, New York, and Massachusetts in the East and California, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and Idaho out West.

It looks like you picked a good year to get your skis! I'm jealous!

I'd enjoy the skiing while we can.
Don't feel guilty, the pleasure is worth it.

You should be able to wear this pair out, but after that you may wish to rent.
