With these two questions I want to know if the extra man-made CO2 has the capacity to conserve energy on a planetary scale for a millisecond, an extra day, a week or more. I know it is an estimate. I am just curious as to how strong the CO2 influence is considered to be.

By freeze over lets just say land based water or fresh water.

Depends on what you mean by freeze over.
But not many. Consider it to be similar to night. Temperatures drop 10-30 degrees F (depends mostly on humidity) until the dew point is reached.
Then water precipitates out (often as fog). That process releases heat (a whole lot of it) and holds temperature pretty constant for a while.
When enough water gets squeezed out that way, the temperature will fall again. Things will start to ice over in a few days.
The oceans will take a while to freeze solid.
CO2, of course, doesn't generate heat. It simply holds a little bit more heat from the Sun close to Earth. More CO2, more heat held in.
EDIT - I understand a bit better. CO2 wouldn't change the rate of cooling enough to matter. The way CO2 works is to hold just a bit more (1% of the total? less?) of the energy of the Sun close to the Earth. Switching off the Sun would be a much much larger change.
People have a hard time understanding how 400 parts per million of CO2 is so powerful. The answer is that it leverages the Sun. It's like judo.

Why did it stop shining? If it was just plucked out of it's place and removed from existence instantaneously, then it would take about 7 minutes for the Earth to start freezing up. This is because it takes roughly 7 minutes for light (and heat) from the sun to travel to the Earth. The Earth wouldn't stay warm for very long after this, the atmosphere doesn't provide THAT much insulation. Consider how much the temperature drops between day and night. Without the sun warming one side of the planet, all the ambient heat in our atmosphere would quickly radiate into space.
The time it would actually take for the Earth to completely freeze is probably not determinable, but it wouldn't take long. Probably within a day or less. Exceptions would include seismically active areas - volcanoes and ocean rifts where the earth's magma boils up to the surface. Since that heat comes from inside the Earth it won't be affected by the disapearance of our sun.

BS on that "thick layer of CO2" garbage.
It takes 8 minutes for light/heat from the sun to reach the Earth. The sun produces 10,000 degrees or more at its surface. Thats an enormous amount of energy that bathes the entire world every second.
If you were able to turn the sun "off", the Earth would freeze withnin a few days/weeks of time. Not just winter wonderland cold either, we're talking polar cold all over the world.
All life would end shortly after that.

Man is responsible for the planet warming. Studies have shown that the Sun cannot cause the planet to warm.
While it would be very dark, the thick blanket (400ppm) of co2 would keep the planet warm for a long time.

The light and heat that we receive from our sun is only 8.3 minutes old. I think we would get frozen so quickly that we wouldn't really have time to worry about it. :-)
