Why is it that we are only looking at corn as a source for E-85? What about the other sources, bad beer, sugar cane, or any grain that has been known to make alcohol?

Be honest, how much electricity do you waste everyday? May it be forgetting to switch off your computer monitor when not in use, or an unnecessary tube light in the mornings, or turning on geyser for too long.

I do waste, and am trying to avoid it to my best.

Energy Crisis: caused by depleting energy sources (especially OIL - petroleum). Oil is getting more difficult to get out (causing supply shortage), while more countries are consuming more, especially India and China (demand increase).

Side effects: Higher energy prices, inflation, and possible economic collapse (because people can't afford to spend money on other things besides energy and food).

Global Warming: caused by greenhouse gases from fossil fuels and other naturally occuring sources (forest fires, volcanoes, swamps), and non-natural sources (landfills, etc.).

My question is, what is worse? Energy Crisis or Global Warming?

Side effects: rising sea levels, change in weather patterns, increase in diseases, droughts, and possible extinction of species.

Im amazed at the hysteria around co2 emissions.....
im all in favour of cutting pollution of riviers, making air better....
but this freakout in north america is really confusing me.

In the worlds history the climate naturally has quite widely changed, and this is way before industry and the demonized SUV's .Trying to stop it seems to me like trying to stop the earth turning too.

has anyone really looked at history and still thinks that its human co2 and not a natural inevitable cycle?

WE could extract the oil from the shale in Colorado, and ship the depleted shale to New Orleans to raise the ground level so there would be no more flooding.

Every one knows what a steam engine is and how it works. The very same engine can use ammonia as the evaporation medium. When you do this the engine can operate at much lower temperatures than steam. It could extract the heat on the surface of the oceans and dissipate the heat deeper in the ocean. The energy will replace some of the use of fossil fuel. Large amounts of energy can be extracted from the ocean this way Also the cooler water on the surface could control weather patterns if we learned to use this system.
You don’t need to build the solar collector it is already in place. All you need is the generating stations under the ocean in critical places around the world.
This kind of technology has been around for more than 50 years it is nothing new. We have always had the solution before our very eyes.

No matter how good the idea is. If you can not get interest from a capital invester it will never happen.

I am interested in finding out how we can take "baby steps" to help stop global warming. Also How can we get the word out to people to convince them to change? And How can we stop the new Ethinol Trend?

About 20 years ago Freightliner had a test truck that was a full diesel propane conversion. It doubled the horsepower of the diesel engine but got 1/2 the mileage. Also the diesel motor would have to have been never fired on diesel.

I am wondering if it would be possible to convert a diesel to run on hydrogen.

My main concern would be if the engine could hold up to the increased power. Diesel engines are built tough for the detonation so perhaps...

If it is likely it could hold up, what steps I would need to take to begin researching/building the solution.

If possible I would like to leave the inner workings of the diesel untouched as I can do some gas motor work but am not a diesel mechanic.

Since CO2 absorbs radiation in the infrared spectrum, is this the same principle that microwave ovens use? The microwaves vibrates the water molecules, causing them to heat up.
I'm just trying to find a way to explain how the greenhouse effect works.

I have heard a lot of commotion about transit buses being used to decrease emission levels in cities, yet it seems that there are proportionally few of these on the road. How much more do these buses cost than diesel buses? Aren't there grants out there to help pay for these?

What Singapore did was using recycle water to be used for toilets e'g like flushing. They even built the recycling plant and the water are safe to drink. Australia have many bright and intelligent people I'm sure if given the chance the ideas would be put to good use.

And she refuses! Here's the kicker we had our land since 1920 and she bought hers in 1994-by the way there is an old public road and everyone else has no problems getting theirs to their land. In a way she has land locked me from production. Doesn't everyone have the right to electric?

I am all in favor of conservation and getting off fossil fuels. I am in favor of seeking out alternatives fuels.

When people like this come out I have more doubts about the "science" of this man made global warming scare.

My husband said they always ate plenty when he was a kid playing in the woods of Maine. I picked some yesterday and ate them and saved some. Later I found a little green worm in the dish with the berries.
How can I tell if they have worms inside?
