New York and Staten Island specifically will have to deal with sea level rise....it is very possible that the low lying areas will soon be inundated and floods during storm events will become more and more destructive.....food shortages and other problems like that wont be hard hit in new york becasue they import all their food from elsewhere....when food shortages as well as water shortages reach as anationmal level however then the problem will reach new york....hotter summers and less rain and snow in the winter will cause other problems.....new york seems to have a lot of problems during shrot heat waves in the summer so it seems that there will be mroe problems with longer heat waves in the future......also energy consumption is so high in NY that the blackouts are inevitable

I really don't think it will affect the coast lines to much sure the oceans will rise, but simply moving or getting another job in another state will solve that problem, what I think will be a great impact will be to the farmers and ranchers, I know this well because I am one :)....we get nailed by floods, and drought's, and if all else fells the people can always get there food from third world countries which the U.S. has been doing...where are entire lively hoods are based on the weather where most people now a days do all there work in doors where we do all of are work out doors, so no matter what happens we will have more problems then the average Joe any day :(

New York, like the rest of the US and other developed nations is protected from many of the effects of global warming. This is partly because the US has considerable resources and finances available to mitigate the worst effects and also because this is one part of the world which will get off fairly lightly.

Some of the effects will go almost unnoticed. For example, crop failure thousands of miles away may mean that the price of foodstuffs rises but no-one links a $0.20 rise in the price of a bunch of bananas with global warming. Insurance premiums are rising to cover the cost of more and more adverse weather events but again there's no direct link so such things often pass un-noticed.

New York (or anywhere else for that matter) could be subjected to adverse weather events that may have been exacerbated by global warming. There have always been adverse weather events but global warming has increased the frequency and intensity of them. If New York were to be hit by a hurricane (it's becoming more likely) then many people would fail to establish a link with global warming - it may have happened anyway, it probably wouldn't.

More people are dying in New York, the rest of the US and the world in general because of heat related conditions but again, it's sometimes difficult to make the connection.

Global warming doesn't bring about abrupt changes, if it did then it would be easy to point the finger of blame. Instead the changes that have happened and will continue to happen are much subtler and are often conveniently be blamed on other events.

Eventually

the whole world will play king of the mountain
probably to the death(that means seriously)

drastic prices for Food and Water
maybe Famine
civil unrest and violence
very uncomfortable living conditions
revolution
many deaths of the old and the very young

I will keep the bad news to myself

No one will ever notice that it's happening, and life will go on as normal.
