I'm trying to decide on whether to toss my old fridge to cut carbon emissions but I'm a skeptical person and I am wondering if the cost of making a new fridge when I don't REALLY need one is more than the savings I'm going to get over the next 5-10 years. Anyone with information on the cost of making an energy star fridge would be greatly appreciated. The energy savings would be 60 dollars american per year, and 300 pounds of carbon per year.

would it be safe to say that algae attracts more sunlight, therefore increasing the amount of CO2 in oceans? Or does algae just grow in areas of sunlight and if there weren't any, the same amount of sunlight would hit the ocean?

Think about it. Most everything we as a society eat has been threatened to extinction. The Bison, the deer, many different birds, many types of fish and Marine life, etc. Why don't we all start eating rats every day in an effort to make rats and roaches extict? Why don't we have gourmet restaurants in world cities like Beijing, New York, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Mexico city, London, Paris, Auckland, Sydney, Manila, Bangkock, Hong Kong, etc; that serve well prepared rats and roaches?

Think about how great this type of practice would be for the environment not having to spray poison on as many acres of fields, not having to have near as many Methane emmitting pastures of cows.

Due to all of the benefits, shouldn't us humans start binge eating on Rats and Roaches? Shouldn't we all start developing a taste for vermin in an effort to rid the world of vermin? And we should not just eat Rats and Roaches. Termites, mice, ants, locusts, ticks, fleas and spiders should be consumed as well.

Why is it that so many enviromental soldiers or "hippies" are so against nuclear energy? It's clean, effecient, and provides tons of power to surrounding areas cheaply. Not to mention, it will provide a lot of jobs. I just don't understand why people are against them.

i seen on the news last night that scientists now reckon that the polar ice cap will be gone in 13 years . my theory is that it wont affect the sea levels because the ice caps are already in the water therefore when they melt the sea level stays the same , try it with ice and a glass , half fill the glass with ice then fill it to the top with water wait for the ice to melt , do you think the water will overflow out of the glass ? no it does'nt

Ok so this is a pretty open question. My own answer to this is that more nations need to start taking this seriously. Stupid Bush doesn't even wan't anything to do with the multi nation talks and solutions to help stop global warming. It is very much a real thing and steps need to be taken to save this planet. People just tend to put this to the side.
