Certain gasses can be shown to trap heat under laboratory conditions. It is assumed they do the same when released into the atmosphere and this is the theory of global warming. The theory is also supported by climate data which shows a correlation between the increasing use of fossil fuel, the increase in atmospheric CO2 and the rise in the average global temperature.
The obvious way to end CO2 buildup is to use non-combustable sources of energy. Nucleur reactors are one approach, but Americans tend to be afraid of them. Hydroelectric reservoirs are another alternative, but this technology depends heavily on geography and is used more for industrial production than domestically. One can still burn carbon and not increase CO2 levels if the carbon came from living plants. In such a situation, the CO2 generated is then reused by the next crop to make more biofuel. The problem with this approach is the sheer amount of energy used by developed nations. I doubt enough biofuel could be generated by the entire world just to satisfy the consumption of Americans. To make matters worse, the Chineese are going to eventually outcompete the rest of the world in energy consumption, natural or otherwise.
I believe the real solution is to try and find a better way to live. This applies particurarly to Americans because they consume so much and then try and sell their consumerism to the rest of the world. The developed world says nobody could possible be happy without electricity and indoor plumbing - but this is a lie. There's no need to live in caves of course, but one should also avoid the other extreme. No need to live artificial lives attached to artificial life support systems. Live simply so others can simply live. To those who say this will erode our "competative edge" I say competition is a game for loosers. Try cooperation instead. Besides, games are for children in the first place.

The #1 thing is to invent new energy sources. Even if we do not worry about global warming, oil will run out some day and we need another energy source.
Giving up cars and giving up electricity and living like the Amish is just giving up. Do not give up. Be part of the solution and don't just cower in a corner and feel afraid to use electricity or drive a car.

First of all the government could turn off all the volcanoes and get the sun to shine more regularly... If they'd only done that 5 million years ago we would have missed a lot of Ice Ages. Other than that, thinking that the (our) government can do anything to mitigate major climate change is a foolish, although popular proposition.

For fun lets assume global warming is a farce ant that CO2 emissions do not matter. There are still plenty of reasons to learn to live without energy from fossil fuels.
1> As of now they are not runnable. They will run out some day in the future. Since many things we like in our daily lives depend on fossil deposits for the chemical constituents to make them we might want to leave some for the generations of the future. No it is not likely they will run out completely in the next 100 years and at my age I do not expect to live nearly that long, but they will run out and it will be damn inconvenient for the inhabitants of the world when that happens.
2> Using them for energy is just plain dirty. You like lung disease (cancer, emphysema etc.)? You like not seeing stars at night? You like not seeing anything well at all?
Of course if global warming is not a farce we need not concern ourselves with running out. We won't be here that long. Soilent green here we come.

in case you want to get carry of provide funds for climate study, do you imagine that you receives a cheque in case you're saying," i would like the provide, as i imagine that i will coach that the figures that the present paradigm is depending upon are incorrect" ? the whole environmentalist, David Bellamy, has been silenced, and refused airtime. there remains no shown causative link between the quantity of Co2 contained in the ambience, and an advance in global temperatures. The WWWF photos of the polar bears swimming were taken contained in the Arctic summer season; at the same time as the ice cap partly melts, as they couldn't get up to image contained in the iciness. The ice replaced into too thick! The East-Anglian uni study figures. "Oh! The figures do not tournament our expectations. Oh properly. keep quiet. because all of us keep in mind that we are precise." at the same time as the concept, and the religion is extra important than squarely dealing with the valid doubts of truly some non provide-supported scientists, technological understanding has been superceded by technique of non secular zealots. As Oliver Cromwell colourfully suggested." I pray thee, contained in the bowels of Christ, evaluate that thou mayest be incorrect."

Moving the planet away from the sun because it is the biggest cause of "global warming" also if we could stop all those volcano's from erupting they are by far the biggest contributor of pollution.

there is not enough evidence, either way, to show we are the cause of global warming or even adding to the problem, or even if the problem exists. However, the government should AT LEAST put more funding to finding out for sure.

I help in the fight against global warming by telling all my guy friends to stop farting all the time. The gases you men make is insane.
I think the government can help by putting the White House on a diet therefor reducing the amount of sh!t that comes out of their mouths and @sses!

Hmmmmm. The sun is the hottest it's been in 8000 years, and there isn't a lot I can do about that.
