I don't listen to many bands/singers with female voices, my iTunes is basically all males.
And then paramore comes along and I love them.

Anyway, heres a list of the female voices I listen, tell us yours. And if your iTunes is made up of male voices too.

Recommend me some female voices in rock bands or pop music that I should check out.

Amiel
Amy Cook
Ana Johnsson
Anna Nalick
Aslyn
Eisley
Garbage
Go Betty Go
Gregory and the Hawk
Jem
Kelly Clarkson

Operator Please
Paramore
Tegan and Sara
The Donnas
The Grates

i mean there is always some person who says every band sucks. i mean i get it you cant love everything/ i dont personally love everything. but cant you put aside that sometimes bands may sell out. its sad but that doesnt mean they still dont make good music. such as things as my chemical romance. i think it is discusting how their fanbase consists of ppl who cant tell rock from pop and insist that they are now "hardcore: because of it (im not saying you cant like pop and like them too thats fine its your taste). but still their music is good. and if you think about it every band ever is bound to sell out sometime because they want to become widespread to share their music ( i kno some do it just for hte popularity im not naive). just explain why you hate bands such as this so much? i mean unless you hate their sound i get that im saying if you think they are winnnying and that sort of thing.

If someone of the opposite sex was infatuated by you, and kept finding ways to be with you, but you did not like them...what song would you play over and over to make them not like you?

Not necessarily your favorite song.

but the people, just weren't buying it?

The example I think of is Prodigy, they were supposed to be HUGE in America and help usher in the "year of techno" ..but not so much. Granted they got a little famous, but they were getting pushed like CRAZY!

What are some songs that no matter what genre of music someone listens to, they somehow manage to know every word of that song?

Like We Will Rock You and Summer of '69

Almost everyone I know can sing along to those songs, even though they only listen to modern music.

Any other examples?

Or, if you like, your favourite new song (new in the sense that you discovered it recently, doesn't have to be new new).

ok this year im joining the prom commettie because last year i was very dissapointed with the song choice they made.
They chosed "Heres to the Night" by Eve6...good song but its not a love song, its about a breakup (duh on their part). So i want to go in there with a list of acutal love songs

personal at the top of the list is ...
"On Fire" by Switchfoot
"Before its Too Late" Goo Goo Dolls

now...we have had already "I'll Be" Edwin McCain and "Stand by You" by the pretenders
also someone suggest "The Reason Why" Rachel Yamataga but is that a love song

I personally love long songs because they allow you to get into a mood and stay in it for a while. Sometimes you just never want a good song to end.

You? Why?

I've noticed (mostly out of boredom) that most bands I listen to that came out in the 90's or later can be traced back to The Beatles.

Using artist that at one time or another produced a single or album together you can link them back directly or indirectly to the Beatles

example

Primus -
Les Claypool -
Oysterhead (group w/ Claypool, Trey Anastasio of phish & Stewart Copeland of The police) -
Sting (connection through the police)
Eric Clapton (performed on Stings "It's Probably Me")
The Beatles (Clapton did the lead "guitar for while my guitar gently weeps"

How many other bands can this be done with

I've noticed that little cynical smart-asses are the ones taking over what's left of rock... now... could it be that this 'whatever' attitude this generation has taken is one of the things that has made it so difficult for a good set of bands to really make it?

I say it because audiences are what make or break a band and I've noticed that audiences today will crucify band for little unimportant things like wearing nice clothes that weren't purchased in a thrift store or the band not acting bored during interviews...
