As far as I'm aware, nu metal came in the late 90s/early 00s and passed. The bands of this wave supposedly became popular in the last few years.

New wave american metal is mainly bands like: Lamb of god, Mastodon, Chaimara, Trivium, and Machine Head.
It's basically a mix of trash metal with metalcore.

It's actually one of the best things to come out of metall within the last decade.
Better than emo and nu metal.

I don't think there's actually a wave, but I believe bands like Lamb of God, Godsmack, etc. Basically, all of the recent bands that are American that perform in the Ozzfest, along with a couple more. I don't listen to the genre though; after hair metal, I've grown dubious of what metal has become.

Screaming stuff. Like slipknot, mudvayne. Stuff like that. "Nu Metal" is what it is. Just any other screaming metal band.
