Ritchie Blackmore. Steve Howe is good, but not as good as Ritchie Blackmore. Just look at the legendary riff "Smoke on the Water", along with some of his other riffs. His solos are superb, and it's always great that he did trade-off solos with Jon Lord.

As far as technical ability, sheer virtuosity, and range of styles, I'd have to say Steve Howe. I have always been big fans of both guitarists. I know that Steve is classically trained, and well versed in jazz (Wes Montgomery is his idol) and Ritchie dabbled with some classical in his early teens, but lost interest. Ritchie's roots are more blues based, with some tiny bits of classical scaling here and there.
Believe me, it's a tough call, but as a guitarist myself it's definitely Steve Howe (only my opinion). Once you have all of your classical theory down, you can pretty much play anything. Too bad Ritchie gave up his classical training before he even got started, he might have been even greater than he already is!
By the way, they would both be in my top 10 greatest and most influential rock guitarists of all time. Good question!

to this point as their skills bypass the two are on the comparable floor in my score gadget. i could in my view care much less regarding the Yardbirds. As for Rolling Stone's scores once you are the record it somewhat do no longer remember the place you land. I unquestionably have considered many distinctive lists or perhaps Rolling Stone will reevaluate them on occasion this is why they might shop on bobbing up with the the actual a hundred lists for all time. I first have been given into Led Zeppelin and so I do get excitement from Jimmy web site's enjoying. He develop into an innovator and did a lot of unique issues. yet there are cases while he gets so precis that it somewhat is problematic for me to appreciate for long. Ritchie Blackmore some how began slightly slower than web site. He develop into exploring a greater classic music shape than web site, yet then they began to do some very unusual songs themselves. "The guard", "Mandrake Root", "hear, learn, study On" are very trippy. i admire Ritchie Blackmore greater useful at present. I unquestionably have long gone returned and gained all the early Deep pink albums, and somewhat opt to hearken to them. Now Ritchie Blackmore has mixed forces along with his spouse Candice night and that they detect a greater Renaissance Faire form of sound. From Blackmore i admire "Play Minstrel Play" From web site i admire "candy save Rock"

Ritchie Blackmore..I think he is extremely overlooked as one of the greats. Love the guitar rifts on 16th Century Greensleeves.
