Do you find yourself having to have everything that your favorite bands release, including useless live albums and compilations?

I used to be horrible about it, but things like a mortgage and a kid really caused me to rethink that.

Mine: Babes In Toyland

Why?: Mostly because of Kat Bjelland. In my opinion, one of the coolest women to ever walk this earth.
She's just.. wow.

And vice-versa - if you prefer music with religious themes, would you stop listening to an artist that you found out was secular?

This question is occasionally asked in the R&S section, and I was curious to get the perspective from over here.

Do you think Creed will ever get back together?

And this thread is not for flaming Creed.

Thanks in advance!

music that will one day be considered a classic, unlike the bands these days that are forgotten soon after they become popular.

It's weird, but out of the many bands I listen to, certain ones seem more fitting during certain times in the year. For example, during the summer I seem to prefer Incubus, Catherine Wheel, Deftones, and The Doors. And during October I prefer Rob Zombie, Type O Negative, and Ozzy Osbourne. And then during the winter I seem to most enjoy U2 and Coldplay. Does anyone else have any groups that they prefer to listen to during certain times of the year?

If Steel Dragon from the movie 'Rock Star' were real, I'd see them every time they were in town.

How many pairs of groups or solo artists can you name that vocally sound absolutely identical to their counterpart? I got three of them.

Tool - Earshot

Soundgarden - Operator

Powerman 5000 - The Union Underground

With the exception of Pink Floyd's 'The Wall', most concept albums fall by the wayside pretty quickly. Even Queensryche's 'Operation : Mindcrime', which in my opinion, is one of the most brilliant concepts and amazing pieces of rock music ever recorded, launched with great mainstream success, but seems to have withered away to a niche audience.

I have my own theories as to why, but I would be interested in the thoughts of others on this.

In other words, have you ever been to an event or party where the music was so awful that you had to take over? If so, how did it work out? Were the results hilarious or disastrous? Once I was invited to this BBQ of a former boss that I didn’t particularly like much. It was all Hootie, all day and I just about lost my frigging mind. So I went to my car, pulled out Ministry –Filth Pig, and very nonchalantly snuck it into the player. The looks of horror were priceless. It likely hastened his retirement.

The first example I thought of was many of Metallica's fans turning on them because of their haircuts during the 'Load' era.

The performance : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4xR2es1VvM

I thought she was sleepwalking through an uninspired performance. The song wasn't at all memorable -- no hook. She seemed like she was either under the influence or that her mind was elsewhere.

Also, while Britney is FAR from what I would call "fat", as many people have said (which is ridiculous -- most guys would love to have a woman that "fat", and most women would love to be that "fat"), she definitely should have thought twice before wearing that particular outfit. Britney's PR people might have cost her a career in 3 minutes last night.

Your thoughts?

The majority of one-hit wonders are kitschy songs, or songs that capitalize on a pop culture fad or trend. Sometimes, though, an artist writes an amazing song that resonates with music lovers, but are, for whatever reason, never able to recapture that.

Are there any examples of one-hit wonders who you feel deserved more than just a passing moment of fame?
