It's weird, but out of the many bands I listen to, certain ones seem more fitting during certain times in the year. For example, during the summer I seem to prefer Incubus, Catherine Wheel, Deftones, and The Doors. And during October I prefer Rob Zombie, Type O Negative, and Ozzy Osbourne. And then during the winter I seem to most enjoy U2 and Coldplay. Does anyone else have any groups that they prefer to listen to during certain times of the year?

Definitely! The seasons put me in different moods and I generally pick music that compliments those moods...

Example; spring and summertime for me is perfect for listening to Bob Marley, Goldfinger, Pietasters, and just energizing rock music. Fall and winter I tend to listen to The Cure, Portishead, Jeff Buckley, and more mellow, calming music.

As a matter of fact, I LOVE to listen to Massive Attack while driving at night and The Cure's Disintegration album is perfect on a rainy day.

I usually listen to stuff that reflects my moods no matter what time of year, but I do listen to the deftones ALOT during the summer and can't get enough of smiths/morrissey during the fall and winter.

EDIT- HAVE to stress the Smiths/Moz thing....especially between Sept-December, for the past 4 years it's become a bit of an obsession during those months

For sure. Music is all about the mood. I have a far different mood in the winter vs the summer. I also have stuff for; rain, morning, storms, road trips, after hours, homework, and basically everything else.

October/fall; Pearl Jam, Hum, Eels, TV on the Radio, Nirvana (Unplugged), Counting Crows.

hmm i do not think i listen to bands according to certain times of the year, but that is a very creative way to listen to bands when there are so many great ones out there. I mostly listen to a band according to what I am in the mood for.

Interesting question.

I used to *associate* some bands w/ certain times of year. I'd think of summers back in the day when I heard Boston, Yes ('90125' album) & Supertramp.

Halloween is definitely the time for Samhain, Danzig, Type O Negative, and White Zombie

Summer is thrash time, with Metallica, Megadeth, Testament, Overkill, Anthrax, etc...

so, yeah...

and Fall and Winter is hippie, classic rock time

Summer is definitely for the Punks.
Go for a drive listing to Rancid's "Arrested in Shanghai" or Scotch Greens "Drinkin' By The River" and you won't be the same.

The Deftones, for me, are year-round! :)

I do know what you mean, though. I can't believe I'm admitting this, but when it's summer and I get to drive around with the windows open and the tunes blasting I like the Steve Miller Band. I don't know why?
