Yes, unfortunately. I also feel like I have to go to every concert that is anywhere near me. It's making me poor, but I can't help it lol!

I'm not quite as bad as I used to be. From about 1998-2001, I collected most of the Siouxsie and the Banshees singles on vinyl for the unavailable b-sides. Spent probably $400-$500 - sold off some of my book collection to finance my music habit. (Ebay is a wonderful thing!) Then the band gathered all of their b-sides (including a couple I'd passed on due to cost) on a CD box set in late 2004. Retail cost: $40. And yeah, I bought the box set - it had a lyrics booklet + info from the band members on how each song came to be written.
Still, I draw the line at repackaged "best of" compilations with a token new song. Thank goodness for digital downloads.

There are a few that I try to be - as best as I can, but I'm not freaking out if I don't get that Dutch recorded only available on a Venezuelan street corner bootleg version of some bizarre event where the artist/musician may have made an appearance.
I figure if I get their studio albums and perhaps some of their side work, I'm good.
Seriously, if I picked my four or five favorites and tried to get all of their and their related works, well I'm afraid I would have some sort of coronary.

Not so much. There are just too many artists with too many albums to be a pure completionist. I would have to get a bigger house for certain. Live albums I don't even mess with. Certain remixed version of things, sometimes. NIN and Zombie are big on those. The "Best Of's" only if I don't have their other albums. No sleep is lost on this end for my fundamental lack of completion.

LOL - agreed. Back in the days of disposable income I definitely was one. Now that there are bills that have to get paid, I only pick up stuff I absolutely need.
If money were ever to become a non-issue (a girl can hope to hit the Mega Millions, can't she?), I would probably become one again. Why not?

I used to be like that, but lately I've just focused on collecting regular albums- no live albums or singles.
