Does anyone out there listen to jam bands? It doesn't matter if they're as old as the Dead or as young as New Monsoon. Please tell me there are some people out there who appreciate good music...

I live in Boston-area Massachusetts. If you know any site that lets you do this (besides Purevolume or Myspace) or if you know of any bands... =]

I'm trying to compile a list of 90's alternative rock songs for a friend and I've hit a dead end, so I need some suggestions of songs and/or artists. I am looking for sone of the slightly less popular bands and songs, so please don't list the really obvious eg: Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day, Beck, Alanis Morissette, etc because I already have those. Thanks!!

A few bands have covered this song. Yesterday I heard Cake's version and loved it! Which version do you like best?

In my opinion, I think it's Rain Dogs by Tom Waits, i named the cover "The Mona Lisa of the album covers"; you just can't get enough of looking at it.

If so, were they what you expected or better/worse? Did their behaviour affect your feelings for the band?

I've met a few from local bands - Sky Cries Mary in particular was thrilling to meet. Very sweet group of people!
Also got to chat with the very flattering Coolie Ranx before a Pilfers show.

I got close to meeting Trent Reznor back in 95' but some things just weren't meant to be... Probably for the better.

Does it get you really angry that being a rocker is now "in"? Now teens run around with AC/DC, Led Zep and Floyd T Shirts cause it's now "cool" to do that. Stores like Forever 21 and Strawberry now sell Stones T-shirts.
And none of them really care about the music, it's all about the image. I've asked people who wear Floyd T's "What's your favorite Floyd song?" and they responded with "The Wall" Geez! That's not even a song, it's an album.
It seems that rock is "in", not the music, just the image. Anyone else really pissed at that?

Thats not how it really is. If u listen to 2pac songs like "changes" or "dear mama" or "keep ya head up" or nas's song like "one mic" or "i gave you power" which desribes him as being a gun.

not all rap is the same. Like all rock is the same. Have u heard of krs one?
seriously and u act like theres no sucky rock. YES THERE IS. Rock can be about violence too. Like the song "DIE MOTHA FUCKA DIE MOTHA FUCKA DIE". Its just a taste gawd damn

So what is rock music? What do the lyrics mean? Im tired of most white people comlpaining about rap music. Id rather listen to rap then some emo shyt with people complaining about there lifes cause they got dumped by some hott girl and now they cut there dick off and stuff. How can people say classical rock is better tehn todays rap. What if i said old school hip hop is better then classical rap. lol what now !

For me, it was the first time I watched The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus. I was probably 9 or 10 and I found it very amusing the way Ian Anderson moved. They played Song For Jeffrey and after that I had to hear more...I bought Living In The Past (a greatest hits) to get me started....well, I don't guess I bought it...my parents bought it.
