i'm from southern NH. i don't know what kind of music you're into, but Permanent Holiday and Four Year Strong are good pop-punk bands. Our Last Night, Vanna, and Armor For The Broken are good hardcore. i've also heard a lot of good things about Therefore I Am, but i haven't really listened to them.
check out http://www.future-breed.com it's the website of a music photographer who goes to tons of shows in Boston (mostly hardcore). there is a concert calendar on the site that lists lots of local shows.

just do some searches for local concert venues, because from there you can check out the listings and look up whatever bands seem intresting
and i know in boston there are a ton of them, and you guys have a good punk, hardcore, and even a little ska scene out there

try picking up the Phoenix ( http://thephoenix.com/ ) .........it has listings of all the shows going on each week.......check out what's playing at The MIddle East (Cambridge) or T.T. the Bear's .........they tend to book the best local bands around
