Thats not how it really is. If u listen to 2pac songs like "changes" or "dear mama" or "keep ya head up" or nas's song like "one mic" or "i gave you power" which desribes him as being a gun.

not all rap is the same. Like all rock is the same. Have u heard of krs one?

Modern rap is just like modern rock. Most of it is sellouts and crap. The popular thing in rap right now is this gangster thing, which is really fake and pathetic, and the popular thing in rock is whiny emo, which is worse in some ways. In my opinion, the older or not popular bands always seem to have a better quality of music. I personly think that the quality of rap right now is less than that of rock, but that is mainly because it demeans women, which is terrible.(and I'm a dude)

p.s. There is no need to try and tell us what our music is about....

I can't stand to listen to rap music. You have to admit that most of the stuff today is about sex and women and whatever. You can like rap if you want to, I don't. I know there are some bad rock songs/bands, and I don't listen to them. But I'm not going to stop listening to all the other amazing rock bands that are out there.

You're right, it is taste and personal preference, so don't attack people who hate rap music. We just don't like it. Simple as that.

Ah. See i used to listen to rap when i was about 10 but then suddenly all these crappy new artists came about. I still like some of the old stuff but you gotta admit that some of the people around in rap today are disgraceful. I know that you get some bad rock but i just dont listen to it. (: i know some people like that that you described it DOES piss me off.

i have nothing against a song with violence.. and those aren't the first things that come to my mind when i hear rap.. i simply just don't like it.. and yes there are a ton of horrible rock bands out there.. my chemical romance, fall out boy, panic! at the disco, to name a few.. but i still prefer some good old classic rock to rap..

It is true that not all rap is like that, but I bet you if I turn on the radio to a rap station, more times than not, I'll hear a song that demeans women and/or promotes violence

I don't think that every word coming out of a rappers mouth should be filth flying filth. That does not make the song. the person singing it makes the song. Until they realize that rap will never be the same. like it was back in the days.

i think mainstream rap has kind of ruined the genre. i like all kinds of music but that crap that comes out now like Lil john and all that jazz is only fun to dance to.i agree tupac was amazing.and most old school and even crazy shiz like nwa and public enemy was the prime of rap music.rock music..again mainstream is a load of garbage.i think with all types of music you just have to find what you like and that goes BEYOND the freakin radio.radio is garbage.there's a whole world out there beyond akon and nickleback and those types of vomit inducing "artists"

Rap at it's best is freeform street poetry, to trained musicians, its like scat or avant garde classical. But at it's worse, its junior high school poetry both in terms of intellect and content.
