When a band plays live, do they nessecarily use the same FX gear that they would have used when recording the album? I do some recording and I'm trying to get that Deftones, Incubus type Fuzz/Distortion. They probably use lots of single stomp pedals right? If so then is that what they would have used in the studio, or do good studios have an ultimate/secret guitar fx processor that would just make these pedals look bad? Money is not an object in this.

I won't explain anything right now, I don't want you to base your opinions on details/opinions I have. All I will say, is that every bit of music you hear is done by the man you see singing.

Just let me know what you think, and I know the video quality is not great, it was done locally, so there's no need to complain to me about that.

I've been writing songs lately that are quite 'dark' kinda like Deftones. If you never heard of them please take the time to listen on you tube. Anyway, how can I get those sounds out of my guitar? It's a Gibson SG and I know its a different guitar than the one they use but still.. I have a Boss GT8 multi fx pedal but everyone keeps saying get single pedals single pedals!

lovnrckets question and some of the answers made me really think about this.

I mean, sure, it's easier, you don't have a ton of plastic cases sitting around your house and you have to search through them to find what you want, but I think downloading could cause problems. Computers crash, you lose data, it's unavoidable. If we do away with CDs and everything, people are going to be angry. People usually tranfer downloads to discs for that reason, right? I know I do. Well, I don't know, casettes are still around, therefore I think we don't need to worry. I know I'm rambling, sorry about that. Give me your opinions if you'd like.

The anniversary of 9/11 inspired this question, and it always brings one song in particular to mind for me. Days after the tragedy I had a PowerPoint slide show forwarded to me from a friend (I'm sure it has been in everyone's inbox, and probably more than once) that had photos from the Trade Center and Pentagon attacks and Enya's "Only Time" playing over it. From that point on, hearing that song takes me right back to that day, and brings back the very sad memories of it.

Do you have a song that always brings back memories of a time, person or place to you? Good or bad?

For a talent contest, we are planning to sing an emo song. (Hehe, i know a lot of you are anti emo out there, and gonna ask why you gonna play lousy emo song.) So my friend is trying to practice his screamo, but he can't seem to get it right. When he screams, it seems that he is feeling unhealthy feelings and he is wailing a lot. How can he improve?

Here is the video.

I like rock (almost all forms) but prefer bands like "Fuel" Including both their new, and old, style. I also like bands like "edgewater." I do not usually like overly basic bands like "Nickelback" or "Three doors down" however i do like modern rock... i just find those bands a LITTLE bit too 'meh.' Basicly, i prefer a blend of classicish rock (i just don't like the vocals in bands like zeppelin) and modern sing a long entertainment rock. Really any suggestion will be appreciated as i've discovered all i think i can, at least by myself. So throw anything out there. Thanks in advance, one music fan to all of you others.

Thanks again.

I'm thinking...
Sweet Emotion - Aerosmith
Love You Madly - Cake
In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel
Just Like Heaven- The Cure
Last Dance With Mary Jane - Tom Petty
Starlight - Muse
Two Sisters - Fiction Plane (kinda pushing it)

What are you thinking?

...(the song, not the LP). He also turned down offers from Janis Joplin, Three Dog Night, and David Bowie's manager Tony De fries to join David for his 'Ziggy Stardust' tour ?
In 1972 he formed a three piece hard rock band and they released one excellent album for RCA. He also released several solo albums in the 70's, through to the present.
Here's another hint; Buddy Miles recommended our mystery man to be Wilson Picket's new guitarist in 1967. Wilson hired him on the spot once he heard him play...no questions asked, Wilson simply said, "Welcome to the Wilson Picket group, be in New York next week!" This is funny, because our young Canadian mystery man was the only white guy in the band! He took allot of boos and jeer's from crowds in the beginning, but was accepted as soon as people heard him play.
Note: This question was never correctly answered before, so I've posted it again.

I am looking for songs similar to Ocean Avenue by Yellowcard, Until the Day I Die by Story of the Year, Ohio is For Lovers by Hawthorne Heights, and Anthem of Our Dying Day by Story of the Year.

Some songs that are not screamo emo, but not exactly hip hop either. A little bit of screaming is fine but not a lot. I dont care if the songs are old or new but i love the songs i mentioned above and want more like them.

Thx

It doesn't matter who they are, what it is, or how you feel about it. If you don't wanna alk about your favorites, bash the ones you hate. I don't really care. Just give me your opinions, you have absolutely no restrictions here, I know you all want to say things about your music, because some of us are obsessive about it, so go right ahead.

I love metal. But I also love 60s pop songs, and such. I don't care much for the newer rock. I do love the classics. It kind of depends on the genre. I can't stand rap music to any degree. I listen to Christian music as well.

I kept mine short, I could ramble on forever, so if you feel the need to write a novel, do it.

If it weren't for CC, there would be no Poison. He had/has very good guitar chops and his solos are very melodic and ripping. I've been playing 15 years, and I think he's good. Sure, he was a wanker in a lot of ways, coke-head, etc. Played those obnoxious neon green BC Rich guitars and would butcher a lot of the solos live, but, the studio stuff was pretty good, their first 3 albums.
