A few bands have covered this song. Yesterday I heard Cake's version and loved it! Which version do you like best?

Andrew: Don't get me wrong, my fave is still Black Sabbath, I'm just saying I love this version compared to other bands that have covered it. Probably the only cover I liked better than the original was The Who's Behind blue eyes..I prefer Fred Durst's. Funny how you assume it's from My generation...I'm probably older than you, and I try to keep an open mind when it comes to music.

The original is always the best... Black Sabbath. Second to Black Sabbath would be Sacred Reich's version and third would be Faith No More. They made cool renditions of War Pigs.

Black Sabbath. I don't dislike Cake generally but their version is anemic at best.

Black Sabbath

It is very rare to find cover versions of any songs that do credit to the originals, let alone improve on them.

These are the only exceptions I've found:

Gold Dust Woman - Sister Hazel {orig. Fleetwood Mac}

In A Broken Dream - Thunder {orig. Python Lee Jackson}

Word Up - Gun {orig. Cameo}

Nowhere Fast - Fire Inc {orig. Meat Loaf}

(these two were actually released at the same time - Jim Steinman wrote it, gave one to ML for 'Bad Attitude', and one with different verses to his side group FI, for the soundtrack to 'Streets of Fire')
