Just for fun, I would like to write a composition in Scriabin's technique.
All I know is that I am supposed to write the "Mystery chord," consisting of C, F#, Bb, E, A, and D.
Then what? Do those six notes take the place of a scale? Do they take the place of a tone row? Am I allowed to transpose or invert that chord?

What am I supposed to do for the rest of the compostiion?

I have purchased scores and recordings of Mahler's Second and Fifth Symphonies in hopes of analyzing them according to form.

I haven't had a bit of luck.
Can anyone help me?

In Tosca, the title heroine jumps off the roof in order to avoid being prosecuted.

In Girl of the Golden West, Johnson tells his captors that if they released him, he would die at his own hand.

In Turandot, Liu is captured by the palace guards and ordered to reveal her master's secret name. In fear of losing her will, she grabs a knife from one of her captors and kills herself.

I'm beginning to notice a pattern. Do you suppose Puccini himself was afraid of being killed, and considered it preferable to kill himself?

He certainly killed himself by smoking too many cigars!

For Opera buffs, if you could only attend one opera performance what would you go see? Would it be about a particular opera or composer or is there a particular performer that you would want to hear? I would appreciate especially to hear what you favorite opera in general is and what you like about it. Thank you.

Between 1995-1997 I was listening to the radio and hear a track from the academy of ancient music. It had a heavy drum beat and made me feel like dancing. I have searched for the tune and have been unable to find it...there were no vocals, and I seem to remember it being middle ages/ court music but I'm sure it's not off the MUSIC FROM THE TIME OF QUEEN ELIZABETH I cd. I don't know of that's enough to go on, swinging beat, heavy drums, recorded prior to 1997. Thanks

He's just started learning the viola and the school are also going to teach him the recorder.

The viola is in the Alto clef and the Recorder is in the Treble clef. The middle note on the stave for Viola is a C and in the Treble it's a B! How on earth will he manage?

Anybody have any experience of this?

Hello I am new at cello and I need a little help with locating the "frets" /notes on the neck. I have seen some folks have put sticky paper strips across the neck to mark where each fret should be. I was wondering if anyone has a cheat sheet (something I can print out or measurements) or guide as to where these fret markings should be so that I can mark them on my cello. It is a full size adult cello.
Thanks in advance.

Cavalliera Rustica, Pagliacci, Tannhauser, or Aida. Also, which one of these has the best aria, or "expressive melody" (for the orchestra).

I am looking for the name of concertmaster of London Philharmonic Orchestra in 1996, when the Orchestra traveled to Italy with Georg Solti. There's a DVD of that concert playing Brahms Symphony #1. And the violin solo on 2nd movement by concertmaster was so great! Anyone knows his name?

its a classical piece. its really elegant and refined and it feels like something that would be played in a ballroom during the 1700's and 1800's at a wealthy persons party. its definetly not sad and its quite pleasant and its very famous. iv heard it in a movie. iv herd it on piano and im pretty sure its played on violin also. im pretty sure a pianist would know what it is. im sure that a lot of pianists know how to play it. but at least give me some possible things it could be. i have to know what it is...

I am making a movie on Windows Movie Maker, and i am getting my Music from Limewire. The movie i am working on was made to look antique, but i have to antique song, you know, when in a black and white movie, there was no sound, so they had music playing instead. If anyone even has an artist name it would be VERY helpful. Look forward to seeing it on Youtube!!
