I think I know what is required here. Beethoven and Led Zeppelin (which is a BAND, not a person, for those that have shown they don't know!) both changed music forever.
Beethoven was a revolutionary in many ways and, at the turn of the eighteenth/nineteenth centuries, he dragged music kicking and screaming from the elegance and sophistication of the Classical era into what was to become the Romantic era. After Beethoven introduced ever-more-complex harmonies, dissonance, large-scale structures and raw emotional energy into his music there was only one way for things to go - further forward. The Classical age of Mozart and Haydn was gone forever.
Similarly, Led Zeppelin blew popular music culture apart. When they exploded (almost literally) onto the scene in 1969, their unprecedented combination of raw energy, long guitar-based riffs and solos, soaring lyrics and vocals by Robert Plant and a nodding acknowledgement to their blues-orientated roots, nothing would ever bee the same again. Both Beethoven and Led Zeppelin inspired whole generations of new musicians to look to the future and push the boundaries ever further.

Good luck on that essay! I can think of no similarities at all. They really have little in common, other than they created music. Beethoven wrote in traditional forms and Led Zeppelin wrote most of their music around comtemporary blues structures, so they owe more to say, Muddy Waters, than Ludwig. Beethoven was as a pianist, a master of improvisation and there is an element of that in Led Zep's music. You have to really stretch to find any similarities of any significance. I'd love to know what your teacher feels is similar.
