I hear the term thrown around and what does chick lit mean? Is it just stories about women? Or by women? a friend said it meant literature that was more analytical. Another said it was anything from a female perspective. What say you?

Seriously ~ has anyone else noticed how frequently people spell ADVICE by replacing the C w/an S ~ making it "advise".

They aren't using it as a verb, as in "please advise me on this situation..."
They are using it as a noun, in the context of "I need advice"

Not just on Yahoo! Answers, but everywhere. And not just poor spellers ~ even people w/everything else spelled correctly will missspell this word.

It drives me bonkers! Does this bother anyone else?

According to my unserstanding in English grammer if we use a particular tense then the whole sentence should be in that tense (I am talking in general, I know there are much more exception of the above said rule). So we generally use "Did you see that?" look in that sentence there are two verbs DO and See...first case we use past(DID is past form of DO) then we use present(See). We do not generally use "Did you saw that?" Is it wrong if I use "DID you saw that?" sentence while describing a sentence which happened in the past tense.

In elementary school, I remembered learning that saying, "How Come" was always improper. Instead, "Why" should be used. Is this still true today, or is "How Come" now proper English?

A soft rustling caused Upenyu to cease his forward motion and remain still. He listened intently, his efforts appearing as sweaty folds of skin pushed together between a squinting brow and two flared nostrils. Again there was a moment of rustling, and then nothing. The sound had come from behind him, and now was the time to strike, his bones assured.
