Another word for fine wool fabric is Worsted wool, which is smoother than woolen, takes shine more easily, does not sag, holds a crease well, is lighter and less bulky, and wears longer than woolen. Worsted wool’s require a greater number of processes, during which fibers are arranged parallel to each other. The smoother, harder-surface worsted yarns produce smoother fabrics with a minimum of fuzziness and nap. Fine worsted wool is even seen in clothing for athletics such as tennis.

Most people think of wool for fabric as being wool yarn, as used in knitting sweaters, etc.
But most fine wool is processed into worsted fabric; as other answerers noted. Worsted is strong, fine and silky. Woollen suits and dresses are made from worsted fabric, and fine worsted merino wool is used to make the finest undergarments (for use such as under ski clothes), and is sometimes blended with silk.
