Seriously ~ has anyone else noticed how frequently people spell ADVICE by replacing the C w/an S ~ making it "advise".

They aren't using it as a verb, as in "please advise me on this situation..."
They are using it as a noun, in the context of "I need advice"

Not just on Yahoo! Answers, but everywhere. And not just poor spellers ~ even people w/everything else spelled correctly will missspell this word.

It drives me bonkers! Does this bother anyone else?

Yeah, and I also bet you can't stand it when they misuse AFFECT and EFFECT, right? Me too.

I agree with Ma'iingan and Mackenzie. Charlie - fail. I don't see anyone answering the question you've linked here with claims to be able to control the weather with magic. Directing prayers and healing energies to those being affected by natural disasters is an entirely different thing. No witch I know would attempt to interfere with Mother Nature in the ways of weather as you are suggesting. If it were possible, and I'm not saying it is - such would be likely to cause more damage than good. If the severe weather were redirected, it would still have to happen somewhere. We can't make things disappear entirely for goodness sake.

Advice is one of those often misspelled words that crop up. One problem is that both spellings are words and although advise may be used wron, it will not show up in a spellcheck because it is also a word. Other examples are the use of your for you're and to for two. One of the biggest is it's and its, one a contraction, the other a possessive.

I would have said that with all the problems in grammar and spelling on yahoo answers, the confusion of advice and advise is one of the least bothersome!

yeah right, but the problem is that some people forget which word is which when they are writing. This should help

Noun --- advice
--------------------------------------
Verb --- advise

N comes before V.
C comes before S.

And when did people start spelling "definitely" with an "a"?

Your/you're, their/they're/there, putting apostrophes in possessive pronouns, putting apostrophes in plurals--all of it drives me absolutely nuts!

did you do misspell the word "misspell" on purpose? (even people w/everything else spelled correctly will missspell this word.)

it really bothers me, though, when you say "thank you" to someone via e-mail and they reply with "your welcome".

Yes, it drives me bonkers as well - as does typing 'w' for 'with'.
