I've been in a private school my whole life, but im going to public school for 9th grade. I don't know anybody there! I've already met with the counsler and some of the teachers and toured the school. Any suggestions to make this year a bit easier and less stressful?

I am a youth myself, and wonder whats going on. All I see is kids around me smoking pot, and doing other hard drugs. They skip classes and fail grades. And these "druggies" make up literally 90% of my school. I am a "cool guy" not a guy who thinks he's cool but no on likes. Is this normal? Is planet Earth doomed to be ruled by drunk, stoned out idiots? Are all schools this bad?
