I will be teaching a co-op preschool aged class and need some of your ideas! We are going to make a book about the alphabet and will be pasting, sticking, painting and such small objects(non-food) on pages containing a letter of the alphabet. I want this to be creative and not the same old boring stuff. I need small objects that I can fit several on the same piece of standard sized construction paper. I will also be tieing in the colors along with this, as in we will be gluing blue, black and brown buttons on the letter "B". I Would love to have your ideas, I know you have some good ones!! If you have just 1 or 1 for every letter of the alphabet, post them please!!

Thanks so much.

I am a teacher assistant at a preschool center and I will be going to college to become a preschool teacher. Shouldn't 3-5 year old learn in preschool? The lead teacher where I work says that playing is the most important thing for kids this age. I understand that they need to play, but we don't teach the kids anything! We have an hour to do centers (snack, art, pretend play, fine motor)... but like for fine motor, they play in the sandbox or play with legos. And it is only 15 minutes for each center... They play for almost the whole day! Most of them can count and they know the alphabet almost... shouldn't we be preparing them for kindergarten more? What kinds of things should be learned at preschool? I want to suggest things to the director...

I have a summer job at a preschool to pay my way thru college. Wele, I am not 100% sure about everything that goes on. I have had two parents come up and ask why I am not teaching their children how to write their ABC's. My director said the best way to handle it was to write a note to all the parents explaining the concept behind it. Well, I do not know it myself! I understand not all 4 year olds are not ready/willing to learn print and if you force it on them they wil hate it. Can anyone help me write a professional letter to the parents? PLEASE! I would like to do my job well. I am doing the best I can.

Every other word is "frickin", "stupid", and her favorite thing to do is make up words but she says them in a way that you KNOW they are meant to be bad.

whenever I do something that my husband does not approve he gives me the silent treatment....he just ignores me and sulks...it goes to such an extreme that most of the times I feel guilty.
BTW we are in a new place and I dont have any friends..so I do not have anybody to talk to....so ultimately I have to give in....can anybody suggest any antidote of this silent treatment?

I'm 16 and I'm thinking that I want to be a preschool, kindergarten, or 1st grade teacher. What's it like being a teacher for this age group? I'm really shy around adults and people my age. Is this bad for this job? I love kids though.

If you found out your child's Preschool is teaching bits of religion without your knowledge ?? Shouldn't that be ill-legal ?? it is in public schools and this is a private preschool/daycare, but they should be required to tell the parents if they plan to include anything religious/spiritual in they're curriculum. The parents should be told before enrolling their child, it should be the parents choice if they want the child to learn about religion from their preschool, not find out months later from the child that the teach it there.

I think I will be looking for a new preschool/daycare.
What would you do ??
