My kids have always had a parent at home and never had to go to daycare, but now my husband and I both need to work. My 2 year old is not potty trained and is digging his heels in on the matter. He's also gifted. He knows his alphabet and numbers and will probably be reading by age 3 like his 7 yr old sister. I need to find a nice place for both children that will help them progress academically, creatively, and socially; and be inexpensive. I think my husband and I just barely dont qualify for state funded child care. Any recommendations?

Well I have a nephew who is 3 going on 4 next month. I honestly think he's pretty smart for his age (Am not braggin) but he knows his colors in both english and spanish and pronounces them Very Well!! And he also knows how to count to 10 in both spanish and english. He understands words also in both languages For example: My sister asked me something about church and singing, and he asked me the same question in Spanish which really surprised me because I didnt think he knew what that mean in spanish. What kinds of games should we buy for him?? He loves to play Gameboy and Xbox, and Gamecube, but should we let him play those often?? Also, he still needs 1 more year before he can even start school, is it necessary to put him in Preschool?? They didnt accept him in Headstart because they said they didnt have enough space, even though he WANTS to go to school NOW!! Is there another school similar to headstart?? Let me know what you think!! Thanks!!

my son is 3 yrs old. My husband mentioned that my son will be going to school in a couple years and I was wondering if I had to send him to preschool before he goes to the real thing? What goes on in preschool?

my son is 2, i would like him to join the preschool because, he only face me and daddy, don't have chance to play with other children, and i teach him to recognise the words, he also don't want to see at all and lose his temper. that is the 2 reasons for me to sent him to preschool.

i accompany my son in the preschool, until he don't cling to me anymore which means until he familiar the environment, then i won't stay with him anymore.

do u think it is better to my son? do u think i am overprotected to my son? i drop by the preschool, no parent to accompany to them and let their children cry until their familiar environment. this concept for me is force them to familiar enviroment. what do think to treat 2 years old children some are even not 2 years old yet?

my concept is i want my son know lerning is fun, i don't want him to afraid the preschool. i want him to be happy.

Thank god he has an easy name to write ( Max) he writes in capital letters and he writes the individual letters very well except he writes the work backwards. ( X A M ) is this normal or is it a sign of dyslexia. I ask because my husband is left handed and was uite dyslexic as a child and still has terrible spelling and grammer.
any input or opinions welcome.
thankyou.

I have a new temporory job for the week as I am on my summer break from uni. My job is working in a creche looking after young children. I think most of the activities for the day will already be organised by the staff already working there but do you have any fun activity ideas inwhich I could suggest if the children are getting bored with what ever it is we are doing? I want to do well in this job and make a good effort with the kids. But my lack of experience is making me worry abit

I saw this happened at a preschool.
At the beginning of a reading activity, a preschool teacher offered a chance for the children to get water. After everyone's done; and when the activity is about to start, one child asks if he could go get some water. The child was told by the teacher that he could drink after the activity is over.
I was just wondering if this is considered child abuse? Is the teacher doing anything wrong?
Thanks.

My 3 year old daughter has always absorbed things that are taught to her. She has always been WAY ahead of others her age. rolled over at 8 weeks, sat up at 4 months, walked at 7 months, etc. Well, we didn't think much about it until around a year and a half. She was evaluated and it turned out that at that age, she knew more than the average 36 month old. I have tried and tried to give her things to challenge her, but she is soooooo bored lately! What can I teach her??? She turned 3 june 1st. She can write her name, her alphabet, and a couple of words. She can recognize each president by face, and she knows all 50 states. She can sing every song she's been taught, and she is starting to learn to read. She can tie her shoes, and she can ride her bike without training wheels. If she doesn't have anything to do to challenge her, she gets bored and then gets VERY frustrated and MAD!! She is a very verbal child also. I just need some ideas to keep her busy while still learning!
