looking for irish step dance lessons for my 4yr old?

I live in the boston/south shore area and am looking to send my 4 yr old son to lessons. thanks

The Dance It Up! Dance Center at 36 North Main Street, Route 140, North Grafton, MA 508-839-1648, hold Irish step dance classes for children ages 2 1/2 and up!

Your son is too young to be taking classes with such a small and narrow field of dance. He should be learning a broader concept of dancing.

Things like:
rhythm and use of the limbs
music listening skills and movement to the music
large muscle group use
group activities using music as the motivation for movement
running and laughing
delight in the 'listening to the body as it moves'

Irish Step Dance lessons are way over his head and will probably forever hurt his 'feeling' for dance since his feet are too uneducated to do the excruciatingly difficult activities required.

I doubt you would find such classes anywhere. If there are, please do not go. Find a dance school/studio where the classes are tailored for 4 and 5 year-olds. And by all means, take Irish Step yourself if you have not already. It is fun.
