The mother should try applying for Head Start services for her child. If the child is receiving speech services, he/she may benefit from the socialization a preschool classroom provides. Her service agency should be able to give her some guidance toward finding an appropriate classroom for her child, but she should be aware that the child is entitled to receive his/her education in the least restrictive environment possible, and a mainstream preschool classroom will probably best provide this environment.

If the child receives services through the school district for speech, then talk to the case worker, or speech therapist, and see if the child is ready for preschool. I would recommend enrolling a 3 yr old just so he or she can get adjusted to the atmosphere. A 4 yr old would benefit most, since teaching of this age group is focused on kindergarten preparation.

right firstly honestly im not a pre-school teahcer but i think i can offer some advice. One of my sisters children started a head start pre school at 2 and a half because she was getting increasingly bored at home she has benifitted hugely from this and is way ahead in class, where as her second child didnt start until she was three and a half because she was learning at home and wasnt as "above average" with her learning. All children develop differently and it completely depends on how that particular child acts and how advanced they are.
You can benifit from some afternoon classes mother and toddler type, from very early stages, it helps the child develop less of an attachment to the mother and socialising skills with other children and authority figures. this may help as they also give advice as to what age you should enrol your own child. Good luck

I recommend a 3 year old to have 2-3 days/week. Even 4 year olds can benefit from this amount.
