I am a U.S. citizen and I have a Japanese fiance. She speaks fluent English but her family only speaks Japanese and I would like to communicate with them as well as be able to have an additional language skill for possible future employment requiring it.

Without going to Japan, what is the best way to learn a foreign language? Any resources, tips, programs would be most effective. I am only interested in conversational Japanese now.

Yes, over the past 25 years, girls have been achieving higher test scores and grades across the board. And we can attribute that to girls being given the opportunity and an environment to excel.

But how can we reconcile the losses that boys have experienced during this period against the girls. How can a girl's success on a test result in a boy's failure. Is there a dependency between the two results? Are we neglecting boys? Are we victimizing boys?
Does anyone believe that boys have become "dumber" over the past quarter century? If so, explain how or why.
