I have just finnished GCSEs and i am choosing my a-levels. I have chosen maths biology and psycology. I am thinking about geography for my 4th. The only problem is i didnt do it for gcse. My parents think i could cope but im not sure. I did enjoy it at key stage 3 and think i would enjoy it at a-level. But could I cope?

I would consider it but best thing to do is speak to your teachers and they can tell you honestly. i would of thought that it would be easier to cope with A level if you have taken it as GCSE but then again it may be the same curricular but a tad harder. Good Luck.

When you go to college to do A Levels, GCSE's are a pre-requisite because the new material at A Level, uses the GCSE as a foundation.

If you do end up taking it then your best bet would be to find a good GCSE Geography text and read up over the summer.

Do you have any idea what you want to do for a living when you have your qualifications? If Geography isn't going to be a main factor when you start work, then if I was you I would consider another subject that you do have a GCSE in.

Maths, English & Physics are usually universally recognised, and are not too job specific. I see you have already chose Maths, so English or Physics may be a good choice if you decide not to do Geography.

I did geography GCSE and got A grades, I then did it for AS level and got an E grade so didn't continue for A level. It was real hard, but if you had interest in the subject you may do well, but read up on the subject over the summer.

I'm taking it for GCSE at the moment. You may find it quite difficult but it depends how the A-Level course differs from GCSE. I know some people who took A-Level Geography but didn't enjoy it at all. If you think you would enjoy it at A-Level, by all means take it especially if there is no other subject you would enjoy doing.

Ask a friend who is doing it at A level who has done gcse and see what they say. Or ask your Geog teacher what they advise.I think it is alway advantageous if you have studied a subject for gcse before doing A level but by finding out what the syllabus entails will help you decide.

A Level Geog is alot harder than key stage 3, yet if your interested in topics such as glaciation and tourism then go ahead.Obviously what you study depends on which school you go to and the exam board.
Anyway if you don't like it after the first year you can quit it!

~I thought you have to pass your GCSEs first before you do your Alvcels any way you have to start at the bottom and learn the basics and once you have done those then you caqn move to the top.
