Teachers are nothing more than bold face liars and dropouts can be successful too, you know. They have talents too and sorry *** diploma doesn't always mean everything.

There are a lot of different teachers out there - some good, some bad.

No doubt you can make it without a diploma. The question is - what do you really want to do in life, and will a diploma help you get there.

Guess what? They're mostly right! It's like your best friend telling you she plans on doing nothing else with her life than becoming a supermodel. You hope her dreams come true, but secretly, you also hope she has a back up plan. That's how it is with high school (or even college these days) drop outs. Yes, you're right, SOME people have talents they can apply to make a decent living without a diploma. The fact is...MOST do not. Most people who drop out will find themselves in underpaying, going-nowhere jobs.

If you have what it takes...good for you. But don't criticize a teacher for trying to persuade her students to do the right thing. Besides that... careers aside... A LITTLE EDUCATION NEVER HURT ANYBODY!

You are right. A diploma isn't everything.

But, not having a high school diploma or GED will stop a lot of people from hiring you. Also, you can't go to college without these things as well.

A few people who drop out do go on to be great things, but most just end up in low wage positions. I know high school sucks, but it is only 4 years in a lifetime. If you play your cards right, you may be able to graduate early (get the right credits and take that last english class during a summer session).
Talk to your counselor about this, I am sure if faced with you dropping out or graduating early that they will help you graduate early.

Don't fool yourself, a diploma does mean everything. This is coming from someone who himself didn't finish high school until 12 years after the fact.

You can "make it" but life isn't about making it, it is about accomplishing it and to be accomplished, accredited and trusted as well as to be successfull you need your diploma.

Without my diploma i suffered through the low end of the totem pole and had to work much harder to prove myself. I still have to do this considering i don't have a college degree yet, but i too am working on that.

Better late than never. Lets just say that you can make it, but its not about that, its about accomplishing something and high school is something you should buckle down and accomplish if not for anything but for yourself.

Get that degree, work hard and you too will be able to afford a home, car, life, children, vacations and a decent living.

I got my diploma, started at the local school and now i'm just 5 k away from 6 figures. So you BET it helps!

a diploma doesn't mean everything but there is a very small group of people that are able to make it without one and the majority of those people live in small areas. If you want a good paying job with benefits you will most likely need a high school diploma and further training

It takes a lot of drive to succeed..if you don't even have the drive and the will to finish high school you most likely won't succeed in life. There are very few people without diploma that don't end up working menial jobs. It's been proven that a high school graduate will make more over the course of his lifetime than a drop-out. A college graduate will make even more. Stay in school, it's easier than 'real' world.

Sorry to disagree with you. Although nothing is impossible, you'll have better chances and more opportunities in life with an education and diploma. But, yes, I've had some teachers who could be real jerks.

Most high school teachers know enough former students to know who is making it in the world and who is not. Occasionally they hear of someone without an education who has a good income without backbreaking work but that is pretty rare. You sound like someone who didn't want to go to school and is now trying to blame everyone else for your failures.

Diploma's will usually get you more money. Companies in the "real world" usually look at education as one of the requirements for hiring a person. The higher the education, the more likely you'll get hired and possibly more money.

Like it or not, there is a direct correlation between your level of education and your earnings potential in the real world.

There are, of course, exceptions. However, they are few and far between. Sure, there are a few businessmen and pop stars out there that have made a boat load in spite of their lack of education. However, the *vast* majority of dropouts wind up being minimum wage laborers, unemployed losers, prison inmates, or dead dope-heads/gang bangers who thought they were badasses.
