The largest sheep ranch in the world is located in Australia. The number of sheep on the ranch is 8/3 the number of uninvited kangaroos grazing on the pastureland. Together heards of these two animals number 88,000 How many sheep and how many kangaroos roam the ranch?
I think I am way wrong 8/3 = 2.2 (right?)
or would I keep it as a fraction?
so (2.2 + x) + x = 88,000
but wouldn't I want to turn the 2.2 into a whole number by multiplying by 10? and if so do I also multiply the 88,000?? Please help, I turned up with x = 40,000 but I don't see how my equation can be right. Thank you this is my last one for the night =) I appreciate all your help.
