so i no others already answered this but here are the answers with steps.

1.(x-3)(2x+5)- all you do is foil- multiply the first number the "x" by "2x" then the outer "x" by "5", then the inner "-3" by "2x" and finally the lst "-3" by "5"
2x^2+5x-6x-15
answer: 2x^2-x-15

2. (x+3)(x+3)- you foil here again
x^2+3x+3x+9
answer: x^2+6x+9

3. (x+2)(3x^2-4x-1)- multipl everything in the second parenthesis by the x first then by the 2 and add everything
3x^3-4x^2-x+6x^2-8x-2
answer: 3x^3+2x^2-9x-2

4. use pythagorean's theorem. a^2 +b^2 = c^2 (c is the hypotenuse)
6^2 + b^2 = 10^2
36 + b^2 = 100
b^2=64
b=8

5. square root of 136 is the same thing as the square root of (4*34) so your answer is = 2*the square root of(34)
remeber its plus and mius the answer above

6. the square root of nine is 3 and -3

7. the square root of 8 is = 2*the square root of 2
[;us and minus of course.

8. this cannot be simplified further.

hope this helped! good luck!

1-3 you have to F.O.I.L-> (firsts, outers, inners, lasts) so multiply the x and the 2x and the x and the 5 and then mulitply the -3 with the 2x and then with the 5. and do the same thing for number two and three just multiply the x and the 2 with the 3x2 -4x and -1.
so in number one the answer should be 2x^2-x-15...check that though i did it in my head...

4. do the pythag. therum- a^2+b^2=c^2 to solve it. put 6 ft in as a^2 and 10ft is c^2. square them then subtract a from c and find the square root

5. sq. rt 136=11.66

1 - Answer is :

2x^2 - x - 15 = 2 (x -.5x - 7.5)

2 - Answer is :

x^2 + 6x + 9 = (x + 3 ) ^2

3 - Answer is :

3x^3 - 4x^2 - x + 3X^2 - 8X - 2 = ( 3X^3 -X^2 - 9X - 2 )

4 - Answer is :

length of the other leg = 8

sqr (136 ) = 11.662

Sqr ( 9 ) = 3

Sqr (8 ) = 2.829

2*Sqr(2) = 2.829

Cool
