can you do anything to it? leaving it in exponential form
i dont need the answer: 144

im sorry i meant, the answer isnt 25, not 144, sorry i accidentley timesed it

i already have my answer
some of you were wrong because i wanted it in "EXPONENT" form. i cant use 25 or else it'll be marked wrong
any other time that would be the right answer

No you can't reduce it any more because the bases are not the same.

Since you cannot simplify 4^2 + 3^2 further, let's look at the answer.....25, can be simplified to 5^2, so that is the simplest exponential answer!

I think she wants the answer in exponential form. She knows the answer is 25 and 25 can be written as 5^2.

Go with Mr. Num Num. He is correct. If the bases were variables rather than numbers then you would not be able to simplify it since the bases are different. As Mr. Num Num said, the answer is 16 + 9 which equals 25.

Yes, you can... 4 * 4 = 16 and 3 *3 = 9... 16 + 9 = 25
