Well to say I have been in private school for one whole grade and I hated it. There were to many rules which were really not appropriate. In Private school We had to wear a certain color shoe which was blue if you had some black on it you would get detention. Whether in Public school you can wear any. In private school the education was to be learned at one standard, but in Public school they teach you at a level you can understand

I have not started homeschooling my children (they are 5 months and the other will be 2 on Thursday) but I am thinking really hard about it and have gathered lots of information and free homeschooling ideas off the interent. But the one thing I cannot find is how to get started in Tennessee. It's still a long way off, but I want to get an idea of what I need to do once I get ready to homeshool my kids.

My son speaks pretty well, and I only miss a few words he says, but he uses sign language to make me understand the words he cant pronounce. He will keep going to speach therapy, but what else will he need if I homeschool him?. Do to abuse in the public school, I must pull him out. He was denied water as a form of punishment, which was admitted to my husband on the phone by the teacher. I no longer trust the teacher nor the principal since she hung up on me to protect my son. I keep thinking of the cold weather coming, and worry now they will let him get frost bitten. They didn't care if he dehydrated after he begged for water, so I am done with them. I need some advice on how to homeschool a special needs child. Please no answers with how I should try another school, because they are all ran by the same liberals. I have already homeschooled my older children for 5 yrs. and now homeschooling my youngest daughter, and oldest daughter.

i heard of a lady that charges to help tutor kids that will do homeschool. she isnt a teacher, just a tutor. she is basically on top of the kids to make sure they finish their homeschool on time and helps them with anything they need. i was thinking of doing the same thing. of course it is with close friends that want to put their kids in homeschool. its not like she or i put an ad in the paper or anything. so where do i begin?

I am confused as to why someone needs a college degree to be a teacher, but any parent is allowed to teach their children. What do the parents have to do to qualify?

Can you home school in groups, like one mom teaching 6 kids from the block?

I am just asking for prayer. I don't expect anyone to come up with any answers for me. I am just finding keeping up with teaching h.s. and working part-time and overseeing my elderly folks and taking care of home and pets and everything else while battling health problems is more than I can juggle right now. Prayer is all I ask.

I went to public school until the very end of third grade, and was bored all the way through. Then for the first few years of being homeschooled, we were just stumbling around.

I have the motivation to do it myself but I don't really know where to start. Currently history is something of a loss because I'm trying to get college 101 classes out of the way with AP tests, which are incredibly shallow and boring. I'm mostly working on minimizing the damage to my mind: it's the most acerebral, pedantic crap I've ever done.

I have a library card and a lot of passion, but where do I begin?

Currently I'm going through geometry and trigonometry for math, German for my language, and I'm reading whatever philosophy seems interesting.

It's just frustrating because I could have done all this years ago, and now am stuck with abilities beyond my knowledge base, if that makes any sense.

My mom doesn't have the time to work out a curriculum, and I don't want her to. I prize independence of the

They're not really clear on the whole concept. They think it's just dropping out of school and doing nothing. I need some links or something for ways to make them understand! They also say I won't socialize enough D: I get good marks and I think I could teach myself /important/ things easily but they don't understand that. :(

Like the question asks? I found out the other day that my son's pre-school teacher has her own child in private school...not the public school system. I've also heard of several teachers that homeschool their own children. Outside of a disability reason, I'm having trouble imagining a teacher in the public system not having their own child in school. Some schools even support disabilities if not all of them.

My wife and I have been thinking of homeschooling for various reasons. Knowing that my son's teacher doesn't have her own child in public school is solidifying my position. Has the system reached that level of "bad" that even the teachers don't want their children in public school? This is a decision my wife and I are working on BEFORE it goes too far. We hope to decide by the time he gets to kindergarten.

My children 12, 14 were not doing well in school and really wanted me to home school them. After a year of considering this I chose a program through the district. We just finished our first week. The kids did better than I thought and my son really completed everything quite easily. They really like it, but I am so stressed out making the next weeks schedule. As I look through the teachers guides, I just get so overwhelmed with each subject. Maybe it is because I have two completely different grades to cover. I know this will work better for them in the long run, but now it is so difficult. Does anyone have any suggestion?
