Which do you prefer, homeschooling or public and why?

What if both parents work full time? How do you do this?

Is there benefits to homeschooling besides the obvious on keeping children safe?

I dont get,why is that they wont homeschool a normal kid,you have to have some disability or something, other than that your forced to go to public school. That makes no sense.I talked to a social worker today about my little sister getting homeschooled because of too many distractions, and they say they wont do it they can only get her a transfer, that the laws have changed that you are not able to do it yourself anymore.Thats Bullsh**!!!Can someone help me she really really wants the homeschooling thing and says shes not going back to public school, and i dont know what to do??Help!!

Often I see questions like "home schooling for, or against".
My questions is why are some people oppossed to educational choice?

Home schooling, public, private, private Christian, charter, virutual, GED, each one is an option available to all parents.

Conventional schools are in the bussiness of providing a service; "education".
Like any other service, if I do not want, or do not like the quality of their products, I should have the choice to go some where else.
How would you react if you were told it was mandatory to shop at only one or two stores in town, even though they may not be equiped to adequatly meet your needs, or carry what you are looking for?
Not the same you say! School attendance is mandatory; how come?
If they offer such a great product; meaning a quality education, and a positive environment, all students would come voluntary.
So my question for home school opponents is, "are you just against home schooling, or are you simply against freedom of choice"?

ok so i have agoraphobia and my mom knows this. we dont have insurance and can't go to the doctor yet. school starts in 2 weeks and i asked her if i could try homeschooling this year to see if it helps me.

i had it really bad last year and it is so bad it is effecting my diet and i havent had "real" food in over a month.
how can i convince my mom to let me be homeschooled?!

i feel it would take a lot of anxiety away and i dont know what to tell her so she will let me do it.

How many of you homeschoolers also try to grow/eat organic food, make your own furniture etc......like the down-to-earth, do-it-yourself lifestyle (like amish)?

Alright..
My mom tryed homeschooling me last year.. I was pretty good at it but the system we used dident work well in math. Also I dident stay on the schedual and that schedual was really important to her because she runs her own buisness and makes dinner and all that. Well This year she made me go 2 public school and I can already tell I'm not doing as good at it and I hate it!! Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could get my mom 2 homeschool me again and what program we could use as my schooling??

I really like the idea of homeschooling , however I am not sure how to do it if I have 2 other toddlers (2 and 3 yr old) Are there other homeschooling parents with young toddlers willing to share with me how do they do "school" with the older kids while caring for the younger ones .Thanks!

I had a meeting with some people from our local public school and they are willing to let my son go to school for the last hour of school (because of a bowel problem) which will include science, history and alternating pe and music. Then I will home school him for the rest. What do you think?

our lil one is 5 today so, it's school time. b4 i ever got preggy, i always said that i would do everything possible to NOT send my child 2 a public schl. he was in preschl last yr 2 days a week, 3 hrs a day. he really enjoyed that. this wasn't just reg preschl, sorta private/family owned. it is well known in my area & great. now, that he's 5 - what am i to do?? i am wanting him in a christian schl, but he can't start til he's 6. i've talked with his preschl teacher from last yr & she said he's welcome to come back & that he won't be taught the same thing as last yr. i'm comparing christian to public. in my area the public schl is NOT a good place -drugs,shooting,gangs,etc. i was there & don't want my kid there. it is so run down, schl has a mold prob but is reparing it. some buses has 2 routes, taking bout 2 hrs to get home if u ride the bus. i'm NOT racist, but my kid would be outweighed by 97% of another race. the schl/town is named by this other race. continued--
