In 17 days my school starts, i do NOT wanna go back. I hate the way public schools are. I've been trying to convince my dad all summer how badly i want to homeschool... he still won't even start to give in... My mom acts like she would be game for it, but dad doesn't want to, you know and my mom said how we can't do it without his permission because we are supposed to be under him (which is true). We've been really talking to him about it alot, then I went a while without talking much about it, then I tried again, and he gets so mad! I really need help, you have no idea how bad I want this, but i dont much time!! PLEASE HELP!!!!

I hear and read alot about parents homeschooling their child/children. How do you homeschool your child? What do you as a parent need as far as requirements and how do you know if your child is doing grade and age appropriate work?
I think my son would do better with my teaching him at home, but then I know he would miss socializing at school which is also important for him because he is an only child.

I never home schooled my children nor do I know anything about home schooling but I wondered if the kids got a break or not. And also to teach your children at home is their any special requirements for the parent? Like college degree etc.? Please don't laugh I am truly interested and that's why I am asking these questions.
Thanking anyone who answers in advance!

I would like to hear how full time working parents of 8th grade HS students can do this. I am not worried about the socialization factor and am wondering if anyone uses K12?

Watch this video I found for ACE. It shows this children wearing a uniform, even a tie in the house. They are even working in a cubical.

This generation is more advanced in the academics department than my generation. I wasn't taught things the same way they teach students now. Would that become a problem if I was to have my children home schooled? I was also wondering where is the best place to look for information on home schooling?

Did you ever go to regular school? Why do you think your parents made the decision to home school? Do you like it? Are you resentful or do your extracurricular activities make up for not being around other kids all day?

My mom might let me get cyber schooled next year. I really want this to happen, but my mom is not 100% positive. Could everyone say good things about being cyber schooled so I can show my mom? And if you have a website about it, please give it to me. Thanks!

Hi. I am looking an eBook called 'The Homeschool Personal Assistant'. I REALLY, REALLY want this eBook so badly. Does anyone have it that would be willing to email it to me? I found it for sale online, but it runs about $25. I could also return the favor by sending you some eBooks (I have about 1000 covering tons of things, and lots of recipe eBooks). Thanks for any help or answers.

my first year i went to a lutheran high school, last year i went to a public highschool because of my grades my freshman year...
ive had a bad time with my soph. year, 60% attendance all year basically, and i'm just really really paranoid when i'm there..i hate it. and iw as talking to my mom about this mu high school at mizzou university in MO (where i live)... and she told me that once a college sees the three changes i've had in different schooling they won't accept me. she's made lots of excuses about it because she doesn't think i can do things by myself...but is that true?

This question is posed to those that repeatedly bring up the "S Factor" as a reason NOT to homeschool. However, I welcome everyone-especially other homeschoolers-to respond.

If public school is the only source of socialization (seemingly it is, by the responses I read that indicate you will not have a chance to socialize if you do not attend public school), what do you do in the evenings? Weekends? Holidays? Summer break?

It is sad to think that you spend all of that time alone, because you do not have the public school to go to for your socialization.
