I don't think you should be afraid. I think he is probably nervous too. You both have the same objective and that's to help you learn. I don't think he will punish you, that's so 2 centuries ago. You should be friends with him, give him a break. Who knows? It will probably be a great experience for both of you. Make a pact-you won't be a hag if he won't be a jerk.

Being strict does not equal punishment. When I am strict with my homeschoolers, it just means I make sure they do their work without any distractions and that they complete their assignments.
Punishment is never the correct solution to learning.

Wow, no offense, but are you really that, how can I put it, "nasty a kid!"
If he's really smart he'll nodd and just teach you one to one.
He probably knows more than you.
If you're not a "nasty kid" and you are a sponge that wants to learn, slap him on the side of the head, tell him to respect his ELDERS and start teaching you!
If you are a "nasty kid" and he's bigger than you, you might get a spanking you might deserve!

if he's younger than you, then he will be more afraid of you. think how intimidated he must feel, just try to get on with him, you might just make friends as well.
