I am being home schooled soon, I'm in 8th grade. I don't know anything about it, can you please inform me? Who checks our homework? Do we buy separate books or cd's that teach us? (I'm doing independent studies) How do we inform the school? Where do we go to tell the school district that I'm being homeschooled? Where do I take the SAT's? (california) Please include other information. I can't find from google about these things, please help.

I want to put my daughter in a homeschool but I worry that she will lack all the social opportunities of public school. Does anyone know if there are home school groups that have Cliques, you know like popular kids, nerds, etc? Also I don't want her to miss out on being a cheerleader or homecoming queen or student body president. Does anyone know of Homeschool programs that will provide those opportunities to my daughter?

I'm in tenth grade.

I've pretty much neglected my scientific education so far but have read a few books about physics and think that physics is really interesting. However, I don't know anything about elements or atoms other than that they exist, so I'm taking chemistry first.

I'm using a program called CyberEd right now, normally it's a supplemental-type program used in schools but I got my paws on it. Thing is, I'm not learning anything.

It's a 35-50 minute presentation, then you do some dragging and dropping, then you take a test. The presentation isn't working though- I need something printed to focus on or my attention wanders.

Ideally I'd like a workbook with plenty of illustrations, but high school is pretty bleak on the workbook front. I just want to have a basic understanding of chemistry so I can go on to physics, but I'm not sure how to get it.

I need something cheap, too, and I don't learn anything from textbooks: the presentation is too boring.

Do you feel that homeschooling has ...

(a) Interfered with your social development/made it hard to make friends
(b) Had no effect on your social development/ability to make friends
(c) Improved your social development/made it easier to make friends

I'm interested! What's your experience with the social side of homeschooling?

Insist that they be nerds? Poor kids never get a chance to socially develop. I'm not basing this just on a South Park episode, but also from the fact that one of my friends homeschools her son and he's completely screwed in regards to education, not to mention a social reject.

Is this what you want for your kids??

What is more important to you in your child's education, intellectual achievement (represented by getting into a top college, like Harvard), or spiritual growth (represented by getting into heaven)? I know that one does not necessarily exclude the other, but I'm interested in hearing what people think is more important. Which do you place more emphasis on? Why? Thanks.

He is being mainstreamed this year, and he is just not happy. He cries everyday when he comes home, and this goes on through the night. He is now having headaches and stomache aches. He told me the kids yell at him in class, as though they think he cannot hear at all. He's also being picked on at recess, but the teachers always seem to place the blame on my child. I have tried to work it out with the school, but my son just seems so unhappy, they said he laid on the floor most the day crying. I had to go pick him up early, turns out he was faking a headache to get to come home. He is only in first grade this year, and I want him to have the best chance to succeed, and I'm not sure if I know how to teach a special needs child, even though I have homeschooled two other children for 5 years. I know I will do what I have to do, but how long should I let this go on? This same school didn't even want to provide him with what he needed to learn for his disability.

Ok I am helping my younger sister with school, she is being homeschooled and I was going to help her with making a book report. But I havent been in school in a while I forgot what they looked like. So if you could jsut write down the typical questions that are on a book report that would be a BIG help! Think 8th to 9th grade level. And dont worry about the parts that say ( what do you think will happen to JOE next) I am going to give her books I have already read. So I know what to put on those parts! THANK YOU!!!!!!!

So my mom and I have decided that she wants to try homeschooling me. We are going to the school board office to get the paper in the next few days and fill it out, then send it to the state board of education. What were not sure not about though is the whole curriculum (spelling) thing. Like where to get it and who to get it from? Also, when my mother sends in the paper to the state people can they decline the paper. Like say no that mom cannot homeschool me. Because I have a bad attendance problem and my mom said that she thinks they may decline it because of that. But i mean i thought that maybe that would be a good reason to homeschool a child. I'm not a bad child, I make average grades such as B's and C's. But I am failing Geometry because my teacher doesnt answer any of my questions. But i have never been in trouble at school. I just have a lot of absences. Thanks for all the help.

So my mother and I have looked in online homeschooling recently because I've been diagnosed with depression and a sleeping disorder. I've messed a lot of days so we thought we would with draw me from school. So our question is how do we tell the school? on the HSLDA is says state requires parental notification only. So does my mom need to just write on a piece of paper that she approves of me getting home schooled? or do we need to print something of the internet to fill out?

So i just told my mom that i never want to go back to public school, i explained the pro's of being home schooled and she completely blew up in my face. Babbleing about how i'll never have a future, that i won't be succesful and i'll end up a lazy bum. And my opinion is opposite, i think that if i stay in public school my future is going to be ruined. I can't concentrate, and im constantly skipping school. I hate seeing my grades go down the drain. I want to go to college, i want to be a lawyer! Why can't i do this without going to trashy public school?
My parents think im a failure because of this.
Why won't they just understand? =/

please help I am bad at government, Thanks

In 7-10 well developed sentences, write a paragraph about why you think the plan of government provided by the U.S. Constitution has been successful for more then 200 years. Why has this document survived without being radically changed? Why hasn't our government been completely restructured?

SERIOUS HELP ONLY PLZ
My child ken, is 13yrs old. He currently is enrolled in a christian based grade school. He refuses to go to school since half way through last year. He is always excited to go he joined sports teams and loves to see his friendsbut when it is actually time to go he refuses. He goes every once in a while and he does all the assignments he has missed. I enrolled him in therapy sessions last yr. and he still goes to them.

Now, new school year.... and he wont go. The school is fed up and so am I, So I took him to rogers memorial hospital for a week long study with other students having similar problems. The doctors told me that he is fixated on a time that he was once bullied and since then can't get his mind off that fact. He hasn't been bullied since that 1 time. The doctors weren't much help except for pointing out the obivous.
I would like to enroll him into online schooling or homeschooling where the teacher comes 2 u. I need it to be afforable. Any ideas

I hate public school, I'm a junior at high school, its hell. Most of my friends dropped out of school and did drugs, becuase it was to stressedful, I'm scared of that happening to me. I'm comfortable learning at home rather than school, I have good grades, my favorite 6th grade teacher is teaching me if I was home schooled, so my parents don't pay a penny for home school, my teacher is paying for everything, I feel so depressed at school, I want to make my education not wasted, and it will be fun if I go to school in my PJ's and have more freetime, I have friends, I go to volleyball practice, so I'm not isolated, my school is the worst, they have fights everyday, stupid arrogant whores, I heard that someone is kidnapped in my school, it isn't safe for me. I want to have the best education, and be happy for that. My parents said no, what should I do.

We're thinking of homeschooling our children in the near future. I do not want a "Christian based" curriculum. I've looked in to several. However, I was just wondering what others out there people have used. Or do you set up your own curriculum?
