SERIOUS HELP ONLY PLZ
My child ken, is 13yrs old. He currently is enrolled in a christian based grade school. He refuses to go to school since half way through last year. He is always excited to go he joined sports teams and loves to see his friendsbut when it is actually time to go he refuses. He goes every once in a while and he does all the assignments he has missed. I enrolled him in therapy sessions last yr. and he still goes to them.
Now, new school year.... and he wont go. The school is fed up and so am I, So I took him to rogers memorial hospital for a week long study with other students having similar problems. The doctors told me that he is fixated on a time that he was once bullied and since then can't get his mind off that fact. He hasn't been bullied since that 1 time. The doctors weren't much help except for pointing out the obivous.
I would like to enroll him into online schooling or homeschooling where the teacher comes 2 u. I need it to be afforable. Any ideas

I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING... IT ISN'T THAT HE IS A BAD KID AND DOESN'T WANT TO GO... IT'S MORE A PSYCHOLOGICAL ISSUE... A FIXATION.

I'm curious. Five months ago you said you were eighteen and still sucked your thumb. What's up with that, you had him at five?

There's usually no such thing as a teacher coming to you. Not unless you are really well off with $$ and can hire a private tutor.
There is plenty out there in terms of online schooling. Start with http://www.k12.com, then try doing a search for _yourstate virtual charter school_, then try searching for _homeschool academy_. Also, A Beka and Alpha Omega have something.

I went through some similar things with my children, My son had a sleeping disorder and my daughter had some learning disabilities and she couldn't cope well with the kids making fun of her etc. At that time my youngest son got sick and coincidentally we found out that it was due to him being allergic to mold in the school.
We then decided to start home schooling, I was terrified. I found an on line charter school that helped me through it all. Depending on where you live, there are on line charter schools all over.
Since then my son graduated an on line charter school with a 3.5 GPA and now attends the university of Dayton with scholarships. My other 2 children are still being home schooled. We are using k12 ...GREAT program ! They will provide you with everything you need. The computer, printer, books, supplies, and teachers and academic advisers to help you as well. Feel free to email me if you want to know more

k12freehomeschool.org it is all on-line and easy to do it is only 10 dollars per class for the Cd's that you have to borrow for it. And the parents get progress reports and report cards whenever you need them. There is also an on line helper for a extra charge that will help him if he doesn't understand it.

GET ABEKA VIEO PROGRAM! They check it and do everything! you can pick whatever grade! ITS SO GOOD!! I RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE!
You put in the video the teacher explains everything as like in a classroom and there are real kdis in there its a christian program it also has Bible it comes with the textbooks and the answer key and the video is a real teacher explains everythignt ells you how to do it and gives your homework and they also check it:) I use it.
Its no "He/She is the wrong age. to go in that grade" or "He/She is to short and wont fit in" you put where your brain is not where your going to fit in. HEY IF I WENT TO PUBLIC SCHOOL ID BE PUT WITH THE 4TH GRADERS IM SO SHORT!:(

When a 13 year-old tells you what he's going to do you're in real trouble. I'd grab that kid by the scruff of the neck and drag him to school and stay with him throughout the day. He has no choice. State law says he has to go. If you give in and let him become home schooled he'll never work out his problems and you'll be left with an adult that can't make it in today's society. Your job as a parent is to get him ready for his future so stop making excuses for him and make him go by the rules or you'll be sorry.

Hire someone to beat him up at home. Then maybe he will go to school.
