Anyone read a good book lately? Something similar to "A Mom Just Like You" would be nice. A combination of burnout mixed with some other personal stuff has got me discouraged. Any suggestions?

You argue constantly that homeschool students are not getting the socialization they need.

First a definition from the Miriam Webster Medical Dictionary of the word "socialization."

"the process by which a human being beginning at infancy acquires the habits, beliefs, and accumulated knowledge of society through education and training for adult status"

Habits instilled through public school:

- Obsession with pop culture
- Government dependency
- Blind acceptance of authority
- Intolerance of those who do not conform
- etc.

Beliefs instilled through public school:
- Moral relativism
- Anti-intellect / anti-academic attitudes
- Promiscuity (even as young or younger than age 12) is OK
- Being the victim of bullies is necessary for growth
- Violence is a fact of life
- Active children (mostly boys) must be subdued
- etc.

Knowledge gained through public school:
- Empirical evidence is clear that public schools are not educating children as well as in previous generations.

I've homeschooled both of my children for 7 years...and all I've heard from my realtives is "they're missing out on so much...meeting friends, competing in sports..etc." "How will they cope when they're out in the real world?" Can you tell me "What's wrong with homeschool?"

She is in 4th grade. She has always been homeschooled. She is doing very well- 99th percentile on CAT tests, excellent musician, great, fun kid. However, she is an only child.

It is difficult for my wife to get her to do her work now. My daughter just prefers being with other kids. A couple of months ago, she said she didn't like the violin, then she got in an orchestra with other kids and now she likes it. Now, she says she doesn't like math and it's hard to get her to do her work, but if she were in a group, I think she would enjoy it. It's just boring to be all by yourself.

We could try to get a homeschool group or co-op going though. That's another alternative.

I am a real homeschooling advocate, but I wonder if my daughter would just prefer spending her time in school with other kids instead of at home with her mom. Don't just say to sign her up for classes, because she is already in lots of them and plays with the neighbors all the time. What do you think?

What would a business scenario, either real or fictional, that depicts each of the following forms of business organization sound and look like?

Joint-stock company- An association of individuals in a business enterprise with transferable shares of stock, much like a corporation except that stockholders are liable for the debts of the business.

Limited liability company- A company in which the shareholders cannot be assessed for debts of the company beyond the sum they still have invested in the company.

Partnership- The state or condition of being a partner; participation; association; joint interest.

Geeze!! Oh how i would love to be home schooled!
The extra time you can spend socializing with family and friends and everything!

You see, I produced this idea to my parents and they thought i was mad! They said I would miss out on the social aspect of being in school, I would be lonely. my brother said it would hinder me psychologically, either socially, intellectually, mentally??? please help,
The reason why i wish to be home schooled is the main reason that my parents travel a lot and every time I tag along, I end up skipping school and I feel guilty. However, my parents disapprove of this and say I'm mad. They also say im getting bullied which Is certainly not true!

I need something persuasive PLEASE, please help!?
Any suggestions

Okay so im 13 years old and in the eighth grade. I have been homechooled before, in sixth grade. Me and my two brothers were all homeschooled actualy. But then last year my mom decided that she wasnt much of a teacher. The whole experience wasnt too good for her actualy. She hated it. And me and my brothers didnt help that situation much.
But now, in eith grade, i just need some time to myself. The drama at school is terrible and i think that a few months ((the rest of eighth grade)) without all of the school stuff, would be great for me.
The only problem is, since the last time was horrible, i dont think my mom will go for it at all. So, i need some help. How can i make her listen to me? I know she's my mom, but i think i should have a right to make choices when it comes to my education. ((oh and i make A's and B's so grades arent a problem)) Also, do you have any homeschooling program recomendations? ((if possible i need a free program cuz we arent doing too good on money now.

I have no physical contact with anyone and being at home all the time is deteriorating my health. My mom refuses to let me transfer back to public school. So now I'm going to court, fighting against my mother. Here's my plan. I'll tell them the I didn't like public school but I made it through 8 years. Now think how Cyber school must be if I only lasted a little over one year! But I have the the feeling I'm ganna end up in juve. What should I do?
